I am not trying to end this movie club before it even really gets off the ground by killing it’s members haha

I completely understand, that almost happened to me and my friend when we tried it. Fun night though.

  5. I've convinced my friends to let me try to get them into horror, gradually. I'm thinking of starting with Hereditary Happy Death Day. Hah imagine throwing them into the deep end from the get go

Not a horror film, but Cruising is one of the scariest movies I’ve ever seen. The atmosphere and shots of the city are perfect. Friedmin and were a magic combo.

Horror comedies are a great way to go, HDD is good. Freaky would also be a good one too

  10. New Year's Evil is... not very good, lol, but it's got some funny weirdo moments

New Years Evil was terrible. It definitely didn’t help watching it on the heels of Black Christmas, but still.

  12. Yes, definitely! I plan on staying within horror comedy for a bit and then slowly getting scarier and/or weirder. Happy Death Day 1-2, Freaky, Babysitter 1-2, Ready or Not, maybe some comedic zombie flicks after. Gotta build up to the more bonkers shit like Malignant and Barbarian haha

20 minutes into The Black Phone and enjoying this a lot but the dad character is terribly miss cast. Can’t have Daniel Faraday as an abusive alcoholic dad, come on now.

I imagine him as Upham from Saving Private Ryan

The Black Phone was the best horror film of 2022 imo

  18. Tucker & Dale vs Evil is a good one. Shaun of the Dead too. Don't forget Cabin in the Woods once you get to the more bonkers stuff!

  19. All good suggestions! I haven't seen Cabin in the Woods in so long, I'd associated it with Joss who I'd grown wary of but he's technically not the director

Cabin in the woods is perfect for the entry level horror choice.

Someone convince me to not drop money on getting the Sundance film online pass

Yeah, Cabin in the Woods is the perfect mix of horror and self-aware humor for anyone not familiar with the genre imo.

Yeah I can agree with that. He did good but it was hard to believe that he was a bitter, mean alcoholic dad at times.
