Im more disappointed you didn’t like Hawke in it. That’s more concerning for me because he was what I was looking forward to.

I like that description at least!

  6. Not to speak for Aaron, but I did feel like Hawke's characterization was a bit thin. He worked with what he had, though, imo

I wish The Black Phone was anything like Flanagan, maybe I would’ve liked it more.

  11. Lol to be fair, I don't think he's terrible! Just a bit slow for my tastes (and a bit overrated, but who cares, like what ya like!). I'm also not hugely into supernatural horror these days and really enjoyed Hush, so it's a subgenre thing too

Bousman would have been my returning director of choice. Spiral and his early SAW work is what I’d prefer.

  14. Same. I didn't read the article, but I wonder if any of the other cast or crew are returning?

I didn’t like Spiral at all, but I really love like 4 or 5 of the SAW movies so I’ll take some more

No particular order, my next 4 are gonna be:

    They/Them
    The Black Phone
    Hatching
    Wrong Turn (2021)

Watched some classics that had been on my list for a long time. Messiah of Evil and The Funhouse were both fantastic.

The grocery store and theater scenes in Messiah were so cool and creepy. Something about everyday places that are mundane and usually full of people makes it really effective when you throw in something weird. This is a movie I'd actually like to see re-done, the original didn't need it because the vagueness added to the surrealism, but I'd like to know more about the lore and about the zombie/vampire townsfolk.

I loved everything about The Funhouse. The Halloween/Psycho homage in the opening was great. Scary looking killer. Always love a carnival as a backdrop to horror. I think I'm going to watch this one again in October.

  18. I really need to finish Messiah of Evil and rent The Funhouse!

They/Them is better than the RT score. Part Lifetime, part slasher. It’s carried by a really good performance in Kevin Bacon and I really like most of the campers. I like the lack of religious influence on the camp, but some of the Ryan Murphy influenced humor doesn’t land for me. A few nice kills tho.

Also bought a Sleepaway Camp and Jason Takes Manhattan posters for my horror/guest room. Finally starting to come to life.

I just bought the Scream Factory BD of Event Horizon a few weeks ago, underrated movie. Too bad we’ll never get the uncut version.
