  1. Trying to figure out how involved Cinestate was in the production of Porno. Reading the allegations against that company has kept me from watching VFW and Satanic Panic. Porno looks fun too, but I don't know that I can watch anything new knowing there may have been misconduct behind the scenes.

Seems like they only picked up the distribution rights?
Fangoria Buys World Rights On SXSW Comedy-Horror ‘Porno’ – Deadline

Yeah, I saw Satanic Panic before the news came out (or at least before I saw it) and it's soured the movie for me. Haven't watched VFW and won't.
Also Shockwaves as a podcast is kinda dead to me. Not sure if I can trust the rest of their remaining members either. I find it really hard to believe none of them had any idea what Galluzzo was up to, especially with how entrenched they are in the industry.

  3. Appreciate the context. I have so much on my list right now that I'm sure I have plenty of time to sort out my feelings about it. Last I heard, Cinestate was defunct as a company, and Wikipedia only lists four features released (VFW and Satanic Panic not listed), so I was surprised to see their name attached during the trailer.

I’ll have to check into the Cinestate and everything behind the scenes. I wasn’t aware.

my krampus Blu-ray is delayed until tomorrow and I want it now.

  6. Anyone seen Safe (1995) or Personal Shopper? Thinking of picking them up as part of Barnes and Noble's Criterion sale, but I already have two in my cart (The Elephant Man and The Thin Blue Line) and don't want to spend the extra $40 if they're not worth it. Especially considering Vinegar Syndrome's Black Friday sale tomorrow night.

Swap Thin Blue Line for one of them, tbh. That didn’t do much for me

I love Personal Shopper so god damn much. I wouldn’t really call it Horror but it’s just a stunning movie.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

Personal Shopper is incredibly beautiful/moving/occasionally unsettling, but yeah it's not scary or anything like that

  11. Any sites aside from Vinegar Syndrome having good blu-ray sales tonight?

  12. Grabbed The AGFA Horror Trailer Show, Scary Tales, Blood Suckers From Outer Space, and The House on Tombstone Hill.

Started watching Smiley Face Killers last night. 13 minutes before a single word of dialog is spoken. 26 minutes in, the lead was shirtless in five different settings. You can definitely tell Bret Easton Ellis wrote it. I don't plan on watching any more, so I can't speak to quality lol.

Follow up to Shudder and Cinestate info. Saw this on an article talking about their upcoming December releases.

Shudder Streams the Holiday Horror: December 2020 Movies, TV Shows Revealed

They added this disclaimer to the two Cinestate titles that'll be on the site:
Note: Castle Freak and VFW were acquired prior to May 2020. Shudder is no longer working with the producer, Cinestate, on any further titles.

I hadn't read anything about any problems on the Castle Freak set, but VFW had a LOT of issues with a particular actor serially harassing women on the set so I will definitely not be watching that one.

I'm excited for the Creepshow Holiday special. Assuming that's gonna be animated as well

  17. I almost grabbed Deathrow Gameshow, you'll have to let me know how they are. (My order won't ship until late January because of the pre-order)

  22. Both are on Shudder I believe! Definitely echo Psychos in Love, The Suckling, and Spookies. Ice Cream Man if they still have it for the old Monstervision episode included.

Yeah, I've watched both Fade to Black and Christmas Evil. More so went with them because I want them in my physical collection especially Fade to Black. Continuing with the Christmas horror, I also picked up Jack Frost. Ice Cream Man was in my cart at some point, so I don't remember if I ordered it or not!
