  1. Yeah, the gentrification angle is the only one that really worked for me, but the kills were awesome. Fun little flick.

Watching Dark Skies right now, which I've never seen. Honestly as a 30yr old, the financial stress the family is going through is scarier than the other shit going on ha.

Also, this has to be the least amount of effort put into a fake search engine for a movie. It's such an innocuous detail, but it made me chuckle.

    EDIT: Finished it. Good movie.

Has anyone seen the Basket Case sequels?

  6. Yep. They are nowhere near as good as the first one, but fun, and the practical effects make it worth it. I think I watched both on YouTube.

Saw The Cursed and Studio 666 this week.

the Cursed was good, really well done. Not really my cup of tea though, but I’m glad I saw it.

Studio 666 was okay. A couple of the deaths were pretty cool. The acting was pretty much what you’d expect from non actors, but they did well enough, I guess. I laughed out loud at the fact that both this and Scream have Jenna Ortega being chased in the opening scene with a broken leg who ends up getting dragged across the floor and then getting brutally hit.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

just watched Exorcist III director's cut and man, that's just a great movie. so idiosyncratic and offbeat but still genuinely scary. Blatty never directing anything after it is honestly a travesty, he's fantastic. think I prefer it to the original Exorcist

I love Brad Dourif so goddamn much. one of the best to ever do it, it helps that everyone has such great dialogue to work with in that movie

Saw Studio 666 in an empty theater and had a good ol time with it. Lots of fun gore, fun to watch the Foo Fighters goof around and jam too.

  13. Was distracted by current events this week, but threw on Video Violence and it just oozes everything I love about SOV horror. Having the soundtrack on vinyl has become one of my favorite possessions, because that score stuck with me from the first time I saw the film.

Now I'm having a Vinegar Syndrome night. Just finished There's Nothing Out There (loved it on second watch) and moving onto Bloodsuckers From Outer Space.

  14. Idk when this happened, but Shudder has an app on Samsung TVs now. Don't have to cast from my phone anymore ha.

    Gonna watch Hellbender tonight.

  18. Also has anyone seen Tales From the Hood 2? Not seeing good reviews on Letterboxd, but it's from the same writers/directors. Didn't realize it was from 2018. Asking because it's leaving Shudder soon.

That's true, that would be great, but I think I mostly prefer they stay horror adjacent. Looks like Gremlins 2 is going to take it though.
