Yeah I saw it multiple times as a pre teen but honestly just remember how fucked up it is. There’s some heavy stuff in it

They kill a dog which I did not like as a kid. He also goes back in time and hangs himself as a fetus, right lol?

i believe that ending is the directors cut ending. I can’t for the life of me remember the theatrical ending, unless it’s him as a kid yelling at Amy Smart’s kid character to never talk to him (because that saves her down the line years later)

In the director's cut he supposedly does, yeah.

Yeah the dog scene fucked me up because I can’t watch, see or even hear shit like that. That’s my big “weakness” or pressure point with entertainment. Chop up all the bodies you want or whatever but leave the animals alone!

I remember I rented that and Mallrats on the same day back when Blockbuster had that pass that let you get 2 movies at a time, have them out as long as you want, and rent as many movies as you wanted. I watched them in the afternoon, returned them, and got 2 more.

Sounds like a fun double feature and one I absolutely would have watched back when I was renting VHS and DVDs from Blockbuster.

Yeah butterfly effect messed me up. Tho I always felt bad for laughing when he woke up with no arms or whatever and fell?? It was just so unexpected. Idk I could be misremembering. the child abuse scene, dog scene, and just constant worse and worse scenarios happening were so depressing I haven't seen it in years.

  13. The Butterfly Effect is like prime "this movie is so smart and fucked up" when you're like 15 lol. Then again, other people say that about Donnie Darko and I think that movie is still a masterpiece, so like what ya like

That scene with the dog still bugs me a little admittedly

I’m sure Ashton wasn’t the first person to create this trope, but he was the first person I can recall that went from comedy act to “omg look he grew a beard, he’s a serious actor now!”

felt like (maybe still does) whenever an actor went from comedy to drama they grew some sort of beard or facial hair as if that would make them a good serious actor lol

no doubt, bugs me a lot.

I think I saw the movie in theaters with friends and I wanted to get up and leave during that scene it was so horrible and every time I saw the film after that I would fast forward past it.

Christ, as a kid I bawled my eyes out every time Shadow tells Chance and Sassy to leave him when he can’t get out of the mud pit in Homeward Bound. Honest to god getting teary eyed thinking about that scene now lol

sorry @estebanwaseaten! But I guess it fits to bring it up here since this is the horror thread lol

I actually saw The Butterfly Effect for my 16th birthday because that was the only decent movie out at the time.

  22. Rewatching The Last Drive In version of Mayhem because I quit my job this week. It ain't perfect, but it sure is a good time (and much better than The Belko Experiment)

Slumber Party Massacre II is a very weird movie that I love

Still haven't seen the new one

  25. I've only seen the sequel on The Last Drive-In. I've got a week or two off in between jobs (trying to work on a script in that time), so maybe it's a good a night as any to double feature the two of them
