I’ve watched both! It was a day one purchase for me. The extended version is better if you didn’t like the theatrical cut.

Which one was it? The one where there’s a twist with the family running the show, or the one where a former character returns?

Extended is what I saw. I haven’t seen the theatrical, but judging by the synopsis, extended sounds better to me so I probably won’t bother!

I also just love Indya Moore and want to see them in more films.

Feel like False Positive had a lot of potential to be something cool but just kinda fell super flat

  7. I don't think it was a great movie, but I seem to have enjoyed it more than most

I loved The Night House for the most part. Something about the third act didn't really click with me though. Need more time to think about it. Also watched Come True because I had to know what this ending was all about. Enjoyed that one too tbh. Ending was definitely a bit silly, but those nightmare visuals were cool as hell.

  9. My favs of 2021

    1. Caveat (Shudder)
    2. Saint Maud (Hulu)
    3. Last Night in Soho (VOD)
    4. Malignant (VOD/HBO eventually)
    5. Titane (VOD)
    6. Come True (Hulu)
    7. Candyman (VOD)
    8. Violation (Shudder)
    9. The Reckoning (VOD)
    10. Censor (Hulu)

  10. Still need to watch Caveat. I finally watched Gretel & Hansel last night and was genuinely shocked at the general reception to that one, I thought it was great. I can see slight criticism of the writing, but the visual elements, the performances, and the score were all top-notch. Probably the creepiest, most effective PG-13 horror movie I can think of in recent memory

That movie was great at setting the appropriate atmosphere for an effective horror movie, but nothing else about it came together for me.

    Let it run Supporter

Bleeding Skull released a list of their top 50 SOV films. Bummed Scary Tales didn’t make the list, but there’s some gold in here. Watching their number 1, Blonde Death, now. Not really horror but if you dig sleeze you’ll love it. I’ve seen it described as SOV Days of Heaven meets John Waters lol

I have not watched Smooth Talk yet, but this reminds me of a trash “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been”

I mostly enjoyed Antlers. Felt like the kids should have protected his dad and brother at the end tho. Kerri's character's alcoholism was addressed a few times but it played no part in the story. Wendigo looked badass.

  15. I also enjoyed Antlers, some shoddy writing and CGI moments aside. Plemons and Russell were good (their relationship really worked for me), the practical effects were great, and I just love how ambitious it felt, even if the execution occasionally fell short. I thought the primary metaphor was also effective

I really liked Antlers although it was bleaker than i was prepared for. Gave me a lot of The Outsider vibes if I remember correctly.

Winterbeast is now on Shudder and I’m stoked to finally watch it

Oh I did not like Antlers lol. Completely boring to me. Keri and Jesse felt completely wasted.
Best part was a dude openly snoring during my 2pm Thursday screening.

  22. Winterbeast is probably legitimately the best worst movie I've ever seen lol maybe I'll rewatch tonight
