  1. I want one so bad, but it's too rich for my blood. Right now anyways.

  3. I already feel gross for spending over $100 lol but it's my one and only Black Friday sale so I splurged. Went with Blood Games, Deadline, Nightbeast, Splatter University, Star time, and then two I've seen, Blood Hook and Blood Harvest.

omg what a wild ride Old was.

bits and pieces were real good, a handful of bits made absolutely no sense, and there’s a batch of moments / scenes are MST3K levels of hilariously bad.

Still need to watch Old, Night House, and Candyman. Definitely missing some other ones too

  6. You could probably just watch Candyman tbh

I'm curious why you don't like Night House lol

  8. Honestly I think it was relatively well-constructed, I love Rebecca Hall, but it was one of those weird personal things where I just didn't enjoy the experience of watching it and there are some aspects of the reveal in the third act (no spoilers) that I wish would have been executed with more subtlety

The criterion/arrow sale has killed me. I kept thinking of going back to B&N to get Donnie Darko and Mulholland Drive

  10. I liked The Night House and Candyman. Also Malignant, Titane, Last Night in Soho. All of these have spectacular visuals. Everything from body horror to dream sequences

  15. I watched 1992 Candyman before watching 2021 Candyman, and while 1992's did inform my viewing of 2021's, some of 1992's didn't really work for me; I wouldn't say it's absolutely necessary

  16. I love the original film and thought the reboot/sequel was very good

Anyone watch Star Time from '91?

Making a list of movies that I want on VS and the synopsis/cover is selling me on it.

star time is outstanding imo, more people should see it

    Back From The Dead Prestigious

I picked up Andrei Tarkovsky’s Stalker in the CC sale because it’s a movie I’ve wanted for a bit but it’s so hard to not drop mad dollars on other CC releases with them being so cheap.

The 90’s was a rough era for horror but Candyman is absolutely one of its brightest gems.

  22. Did Black Friday today! Good premise, great practical effects, pretty bad writing. Virtually no consistent character traits, arcs, or even discernable protagonists. Some bizarre one liners and performances too, but Bruce Campbell, Ivana Vaquero, and Michael Jai White are all great. The digital effects are also rough, but if you're into the premise, you're probably willing to overlook the technical stuff. Of course I enjoyed it, it's practically like someone threw Evil Dead, Krampus, and H.P. Lovecraft into a blender and watered it down. Colorful and fun despite not being very good.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

gun to my head I might prefer the new Candyman too. the atmosphere and slow build in the original is absolutely iconic, it's first half might genuinely be the best of any horror movie after Alien. but then it kinda... drops a lot of interesting threads and runs with "Helen is a reincarnation of his lost love" which I've always found preeeetty silly and sucks a lot of wind out of the second half's sails

'21 Candyman has plenty of flaws for sure but it's the exact kind of boldly stylised, batshit crazy horror that is catnip to me
