Unfortunately, New Nightmare didn't really do it for me. Appreciated the originality, but it didn't really feel like a Nightmare film, and I know that's the point, but...twoish on-screen kills in just under two hours? Idk. The child acting and new Freddy design didn't help, although Langenkamp was great (as always). Just kind of boring compared to the worse (read: more fun) sequels. On the flip side of the coin, Antibirth was NUTS. I went from kind of hating it to kind of loving it in 90 minutes. Very messy, both narratively and literally. I don't know if that constitutes a recommendation, but it's an experience. It's like Eraserhead directed by Harmony Korine.
