honestly i'm on board with fewer Flanagan regulars. love them (most of them, anyway), but get some new faces in there

 

It's right behind #2 for me. It literally scarred me for life in that I will not drive behind trucks transporting logs ever again.

 

Just watched Event Horizon; such a fun film

 

hm, who don't you like? aside from some of the Midnight Club kids (who aren't bad), i think almost all the regulars are pretty darn stellar. tbh i wish Kyliegh was in more Flanagan stuff, and more stuff in general

but yeah, new faces is good

 

So Black Phone 2 is just gonna be Nightmare on Elm Street in a way?

 

The guy who played Elliot in E.T. just has one of those faces as an adult that I struggle with. Did not enjoy seeing him in Doctor Sleep

 

i'm not a fan of Henry Thomas. no hate to anyone who loves him, but i just don't really walk away liking most of his performances. they're either forgettable or somewhat typecast as creepy. the only performance of his that really worked well in that regard was in Usher, and that's primarily because that whole show centered around the worst people getting what was coming to them. he was an effective douchebag in that show, and was rightfully killed off, but in every other Flanagan project i've seen him in (the only things i still haven't seen are Absentia, Ouija: Origin of Evil, and The Life of Chuck), he's just not that interesting. i've had no problem with anyone else in Flanagan's projects.

 

Agreed, she's fucking awesome in Prey and proved she can lead a movie

 

haha damn, both of you? is this a common thing? this is news to me. but i guess i can see that. he's good at playing kinda an asshole. tbh i don't like him nearly as much as i do Kate, Sam, Rahul, and Carla, but fwiw i do think he did good in Hill House and Bly.

yup! as someone who loved Doctor Sleep (which i know you weren't a huge fan of, but to each their own), i felt like his cameo was kind of shoehorned in and took me out of it when i saw his face. i get why they did it, and i guess he kinda looks like Jack Nicholson? but if they were gonna do it, they could've pick anyone else who looks remotely like the person he's supposed to be portraying and chosen someone who has a bit more charisma. nearly every other actor in Mike Flanagan's projects brings their A-game every time, so Henry Thomas just feels really boring in comparison.

he was fine in Bly and serviceable in Hill House, but everyone else is just outstanding in those shows (even though the Flora character from Bly Manor was annoying as hell, the actress did a great job with the part). maybe he was more effective as a child in E.T. (which i've only seen like half an hour of 25 years ago), but i just don't think he's that great as an adult (the only other thing i've seen him in was Fire in the Sky, which i found to be really boring up until the tail end, but that wasn't his fault because he was barely in it).

 

He is definitely much more effective in ET, which is an all-timer
