The Higher have posted their cover of NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye” on streaming platforms. My memory on this is fuzzy, but I’m pretty sure this was announced like a decade ago after being in their live set and then never released.

There was a time when I listened to this band here and there, but I completely forgot about them. I don’t really recall if I actually liked them or not.

Lol they covered this all the time live. I always loved these guys. Long live fiddler records.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure this was announced a long time ago, too. This band’s popularity peaked around 2009 - 2010.

Haha, that's a name I hadn't heard in a while. I remember loving their first EP in like 2003 or something.

Oh no, now I'm falling down the rabbit hole of artists related to The Higher on spotify. It's going to be one of those nights. Sing it Loud, the Audition, Houston Calls, Cartel, Valencia, the Morning of... Might as well just get it out of my system before I go back to The Dirty NIL

Sing It Loud and Houston Calls. Hot damn. I feel like Houston Calls really got the short end of the stick with their career. They were solid. Now I’m going to listen to that Drive-Thru era starting with Socratic.

That Sing it Loud album from 2010 is still surprisingly solid. I'm gonna need another night of OT work to go through the Drive-Thru era.

Oh for sure with HC! Loved seeing them and Socratic around Jersey all the time back in the day. Fun fact, I’m from the same town as those Socratic dudes.

Re-listening to Histrionics right now and amazed at how much of this I still remember. In my head a bunch of these songs were by different bands.

I don't think they were on Drive-Thru but Limbeck was one of my favorites in that scene. IIRC there was some label drama with Houston Call's last album, which was also the last release for DRT.

It's very underrated and has held up overtime!

Relistening now to "Insurance" -- man did I love this song back in the day. Looking back, at it's immature and kinda typical for its attempts at mixing emo-rock with pop-R&B, but it's still a really good time.

Saw that this thread suddenly had 19 comments and figured it had turned into some awful political debate thread - pleasantly surprised to see it's just a wholesome trip down memory lane! Saw Houston Calls and Valencia in Victorville, CA right at the end of HC's existence. Was such a fun show and a bummer that the band kind of imploded from what I remember.

Definitely need to revisit everyone mentioned here one of these nights.

Honestly I used to jam to that song all the time in my early college years. I think it was on a Dropdead clothing mixtape which’s where I first heard of The Higher.

I may be one of the few but I still frequent On Fire often. I actually frequent the Higher pretty often. I always had a soft spot for them. They were around right at my teenage years and I never missed a show at Chain Reaction.

Honestly I sort of miss this era when pop punk mixed R&B together. You just don't get bands like The Cab and The Higher anymore.
