the kids in both seasons were definitely great. perfectly splendid got to me after the third time tho
Siegel, Thomas, Kohli, Essoe, and then Gish, Longstreet and Sloyan from Hill House will all be back for midnight mass also zach gilford, hamish linklater and michael trucco
yesss Kohli can be a regular in everything as far as I'm concerned also Longstreet's monologue in Hill House was one of the best performed in the whole season
In Gerald's Game, Carla Gugino's character Jessie had a sister named Maddie. I noticed the connection to Hush right away because I'd just watched Hush right before.
I noticed that just today too, cos I rewatched both lmao. I'd say the Maddie thing was a coincidence except Jessie throws a copy of Midnight Mass at the dog which kinda makes it explicit I'm living for the Flanagan Cinematic Universe tbh
I think I read Flanagan also adapted and weaved-in parts of other Henry James' works. Already added a bunch of his shit to my Goodreads Want-To-Read list.
so very late, but I’m watching this for the first time and this jump scare made me and my fiancé actually scream so bad our cat wouldn’t come near us.
I rewatched it recently and the argument they're having in the car is so intense I basically forgot it was coming and it got me all over again lol
Bly ruled, really glad they didn’t just try and replicate Hill House. Last episode is maybe the best thing I’ve seen all year.
Really liked Bly Manor. I felt like ep5 and the final 3 episodes were the strongest. Everything came together so beautifully for me. The jump scare in ep 8 with Perdita opening the chest got me good. Not as good as the jump scare in Hill House, but still great.
At Bly, Dani is an American foreigner falling in love with a British woman haunted by ghosts that stay in one place. In America, Jamie is a British foreigner living with an American haunted by a ghost that goes where she goes. When Rebecca walked into the lake, she wasn't in control. Peter made that decision for her. When Jamie jumped into the lake, she wasn't allowed to stay. Dani made that decision for her.
Saw Oculus last night. Pretty good movie and super similar to the themes explored in this series. Lots of parallels.
Oculus rules. the ending makes me want to throw things at the screen but in a good way. it was def a sandbox for some of the images and themes he expanded on with Hill House
I don't remember caring for Oculus when I saw it the one time but that was a while back. I think I should rewatch it
Finally watching Bly and it's pretty creepy so far! Do I need to know things from Hill House? I feel like there are things being hinted at with the nanny's past Also, these kids are definitely ghosts, right? Seems heavily hinted at with the little boy
