Got to see this early. It's decent. Some good performances by the main cast and a solid love story. It's rarely scary and delves into "Lost"-type territory that I think it struggles with in the back of the show. Not as memorable as "Hill House," but it's fine for what it is.
Finished Hill House. I love that it was storytelling first and foremost and scares were sprinkled in.
Stopped at episode 5 for tonight, which was stunning. Really loving this so far, will probably finish up the rest tomorrow.
At episode 5. Great so far, really beautiful gothic romance/mystery. Definitely not what I was expecting, and a little disappointed it hasn't been scary/that creepy, but a great experience thus far.
why in the fuck did they cast Carla as the narrator and then make her do that terrible accent all throughout lmao
probably bc she’s friends with flanagan, couldn’t commit to a lead role, but still wanted to be involved? doesn’t seem that complicated haha
no i get it haha. i’m sure it isn’t natural for her, but she wanted a part/he wanted her to have one and it was the only one that fit. i can’t imagine another part this season she could have played
Own thing. It's a take on The Turn of the Screw. I am 4 episodes in and I like what's been established thus far. Was waiting for it to get heavy and it certainly did!
Loving the first episode of Bly so far. I didn’t realize it was an adaptation of TOTS until the interview scene. If y’all liked this, I highly recommend the film The Innocents, which is the defining film version to TOTS in my humble opinion. It’s a shining example of black and white cinematography and Deborah Kerr is incredible as the nanny.
I’m not sure I’m fully on board with what episode 8 is doing. It’s ambitious, and usually I’m all in on any show doing a risky/experimental episode, but this one is...sort of boring unfortunately.
TOTS one of my favorite novels ever. so glad I read it in school. had a dope teacher that was obsessed with southern gothic lit and made us read a bunch of A+ shit
Can there be a different thread for that show? I like this show and don’t want that one spoiled here.
I’m not sure how I feel about it as the final episode of a horror series but on its own the last episode hit me real hard
