damn. no Dallas date for Fury. Also, anyone fuck with the band Initiate? They're playing a small show here tonight with some locals and I'm thinking of going.
Awesome. I dig Fists of Fury who are opening for them and I've been wanting to check out the venue so you've probably convinced me to go. I'll have to give their record a spin on the way down there.
Good call. Initiate were great. The venue was basically just a small room with no stage in a little art studio, so it felt like a house show. Fists of Fury and Unexpressed were cool too. Short and sweet show for $6. Couldn't ask for more.
I saw Regional Justice Center last Friday, so good. People went off. They had three shirts, but the only one they had in 2XL or XL was a white one and I don't do white shirts anymore. I heard that they are doing at least a run with Spine in like July-ish, I heard they are pretty much coming to Baltimore at least.
Yeah! It's the second night of the tour tonight. I'm just hoping they don't go on too early because I have an hour drive ahead of me and the ticket says 5:30 and I can't leave until 5:15.
I'm seeing Counterparts tonight, then I'm heading off to the King Nine / Backtrack show. I'm also catching that Dead Swans / Defeater tour tomorrow. Not a bad two days ! I wonder why Dead Swans are absolute nobodies outside of Europe, I've been a fan for over ten years and I have always found it weird how yuros are the only people who care about them.
I listened to Sleepwalkers a bit. During the time they released it they got on some notable tours, gained a bit of traction but then seemingly disappeared for a while. Likely bad promotion.
I have yet to see Counterparts without Jesse in the band. Not that I’ve been avoiding them, just wondering if their live show is hurt or improved by it.
Dead Swans is great, I just started listening to them fairly recently, but I’d love to see them if they come over to the US at some point, Defeater’s lineup for their US run is great though, so I can’t really complain
Listened to Dead Swans a ton in like 09 after Southern Blue was released, then Sleepwalkers was great, but they seemed to fade away rather quickly after that. Feel like them and More Than Life were important in the evolution of melodic hardcore especially in the UK. Kinda pushed it in a darker, more dramatic, even post-rocky direction. Then you had bands like Landscapes, Departures, Crooks, (insert plural noun here) bands comin up.
