the feels like heaven is the best melodic release i’ve heard so far this year. i tend to shy from the super heavy stuff, but peta doesn’t seem to miss these days. love the samples and the rap stuff thrown in. gangsta
That I Promised The World band sounds like 2006 MySpace music. I’m all set with that sort of thing but I kinda respect that they are clearly students of the game, they really nailed a lot of little details of that era
I saw them open for harms way/deafheaven a few months ago and this was 100% the vibe I got from them from seeing them live. Seeing them made me feel like I had taken a Time Machine back to my high school days.
Their whole aesthetic is definitely an ode to 2000’s era metalcore but they are also extremely talented too. They will be huge. All the hardcore kids were going crazy to them at FYA, even the old heads. The old Underoath cover they did was cool as hell.
They had a top 3 set of the weekend at FYA I was blown away. Google told me they’re all like 21 years old which is the coolest shit ever.
not really sure if this is hardcore per se, but how much art (pat flynn’s synth punk band) just dropped a new tune
Crush Your Soul is dope. Nothing mindblowing, but it's nice to see a band that is distinctly Jay Mindforce fronted with a different sound. I Promised The World is cool, but: 1) The fact this is getting lumped in with hardcore at all is hilarious as shit to me because this is distinctly Myspace metalcore, which was a completely different world when I was a teenager. Them sharing the same bill at a hardcore festival with Gorilla Biscuits and Hatebreed is still a completely foreign concept to me and probably wouldn't be possible if they didn't come up from the Ephyra scene. 2) Like a lot of metalcore from that time, the clean vox completely take me out of it. Otherwise, you have a pretty damn solid Misery Signals cosplay going on that I can always get behind.
They 100% pass the vibe check in the more inclusive scene nowadays. Like I said, it's good shit minus my one personal nitpick that's been an issue I've had with that style for years now since grindcore and death metal ruined my preferences.
On the IPTW chat, the folks in Charlottesville were not prepared for this and it was just wild to see.
