The entire bracket was wack when half the fucking bracket is from New York and there were some glaring omissions otherwise (Dead Kennedys for one).
them mentioning them all in the honorable mentions and then saying circle jerks would have lost to outbreak round 1 if they even made it had me foaming at the mouth
hmmmmm ya know to the current kids in hardcore I do think outbreak is more relevant with that crowd than circle jerks are, just saying, outbreak is looked at very influential where I think people see circle jerks as a punk band now
they did mention that circle jerks/black flag/adolescents etc. are "punk" but idk if i'd call those guys "current kids" haha, one of them is older than I am and I'm practically the crypt keeper
yea when I say kids I am saying like current generation of hardcore, bands coming up now and the younger kids/young adults going to the shows.
Hardcore then vs hardcore now is vastly different. It is important to include those bands but hardcore has expanded well beyond that sound and thus why people may consider those older bands punk.
I think a direct comparison as far as a modern day bands go could be something in the realm of the Oi! resurgence. A good example might also be something like Haywire (sorry @swboyd).
right that's what I mean haha. the hosts picking it, admittedly going off their own subjectivity and less trying to be "this is an objective list," are in their mid to late 30s. not exactly a representation of the current generation.
