Because it’s funny that it was once THE hardcore fest and now the big draw is Shattered Realm and other FSU goon bands
The National media has picked up on this Gel story, tmz ran a story on it on their show. They all kinda frame it making fun of them. Basically being like they are a few weeks away from Coachella and they couldn’t keep it together for a break like that.
Does anyone actually listen to Torture? Finally got around to listening to them yesterday and I gotta say, I don’t get it?
even bands that I don’t like that are super popular “I can get it” I don’t like sleep token, but I get it, sometimes a band comes around that people are really into and I just don’t see the appeal. There are bands doing similar things to them but way way way better.
Old man opinion, but I feel like a lot of those slam bands are just this generation's version of the white belt grind bands from the myspace days. Half ironic, probably fun live, but mostly just merch machines for teenagers that don't want to look like normies.
In theory they seem like something I could respect: a band that’s extremely vocal about US imperialism and is constantly bringing up the Palastinian genocide. I feel like hardcore really lacks a band that’s ~about~ something. That being said they don’t have the lyrics to back it up and it kinda comes across as surface level. I also think musically they’re just very uninteresting.
I think if you want a heavier hardcore band doing the military imperial thing and having lyrics to back it up, I think Contention does a good job. No shade on Torture, but it’s not for me.
Seen Torture live twice last year and it was epic both times, really crazy crowd reaction it was pretty fun lol
