That drug church tour was maybe the most fun I've had at any show all year. All the openers are worth getting there early!
Good to know. I wanted to see Soul Blind but didn't really know about the rest and didn't know if it was worth battling traffic to get there early (the shows an hour drive for me without traffic)
Pony had to drop. I unfortunately missed Soul Blind. But Modern Color and Drug Church were both lit. Maybe the best Drug Church set I've seen.
I'm in a huge Gallows kick after being finding out Frank Carter now plays with Sex Pistols (in sentences I never thought I'd write) and while I'm waiting for their reunion, I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations, preferably from current acts as I'm out of the loop? I love everything they've done by the way. Whether it's something along the lines of the more metalcore-ish, mathcore-ish Orchestra of Wolves, the ambitious Grey Britain, the anthemic riff fest of S/T or the goth/deathrock vibes of Desolation Sounds, I'm looking for something that may scratch the same itch as any of those.
Frank's brother had a band called Blackhole which is similar to the older Gallows stuff. There was also a band out around the time they broke through called The Ghost Of A Thousand which will scratch that same itch.
Check out Giver, specifically their 2020 album Sculpture of Violence. Not an exact 1:1 with Gallows, but definitely a huge influence for them. They have an album that dropped a couple months ago too that I just realized I haven't listened to yet so will fix that later today.
Oh The Ghost Of A Thousand, that's a name I haven't heard in a long time but I remember being into them. I definitely hear Gallows vibes in the Giver embed as well. I'll check all of them out, thanks!!
I have but it must've been many, many years. Not sure I even gave their most recent album a listen. But it's great because I'm realizing I know more bands in that realm than I thought lol
