Gotta remember though that in reality, back in the day he was horrible with his vocals. Essentially the crowd did more at shows than he did and he wasn’t good live. I was semi-young when they split and became a huge fan posthumously. Seen them 3 times since the reunion and ive been genuinely impressed with how he sounds now at this age. I don’t believe there is a lyricist/vocalist I like more in hardcore. He’s consistent in his writing with this one and I love some of the callbacks to earlier work. Instrumentally, how could you not love this? Write up the same vein of the GUTG days and I am loving it.
Oh, it’s a fantastic record and I don’t mind his vocals at all. Is it my AOTY? No, but one I will jam for a while.
Yeah some tracks are stronger than others but it’s so great to have new material from them. I love that it really sounds like a follow up/progression, but not a repeat. A lot of eerie build ups and slower parts I didn’t expect. Real vibe setter.
The lyrics are up I realized and they’re a great read. Wes has got a real way with words unlike many in the hardcore scene. And he’s not even really a traditional hardcore vocalist which makes it even better.
Obviously I've only had a very short time with the AN album, but I think I like it more than Harms Ways new album.
I can’t get over how good new AN is. I truly expected to be disappointed. Been playing it all morning.
Broadcasting Was the first hardcore album that I ever listened to. So I think I like that album more than most fans.
I think a lot of people got into them with Broadcasting... They also went in a much harder direction with Andrew taking over but Scott is an incredible vocalist and their first two records with him are pretty amazing.
I love Wake The Dead too. When it came out I slept on it. Still think the albums that followed were stronger overall.
Speaking of albums I slept on, Verse’s Bitter Clarity album is amazing and possibly their best. The second half of the album is unlike anything they did prior. Really hoping for an Aggression 10-year tour or at least they play it at TIHC.
I'm listening to Thousand Mile Stare for the first time in a month or two and damn this album is amazing.
Unsure on the new AN on first listen. Need to give it a little more time. They're probably one of my favourite hardcore bands, so I'm not really sure what I was expecting. But yeah. Needs more time IMO.
It's this, and it's no question. Andrew's a good vocalist, but those two records with Scott are something else to me, Wake the Dead being their pinnacle. Unrelated and not to double post, the new Turnstile record is streaming on NPR: First Listen: Turnstile, 'Time & Space'
