Might be an unpopular opinion, but the only stuff from them I like was when they still had Kids in their name.
It's hard for me to be positive about Code Orange in 2023 so I'll just say this - the demo, Cycles, and the Full of Hell split are all great releases. The first LP has some tracks, but it's all downhill after that minus some of the grungy/alt tracks where Reba is primary vox. Bleeding in the Blur for example.
I was honestly on board with anything to a varying degree until they released Out For Blood. Saw them one more time after that too and it is just not for me at all anymore.
I dig Code Orange far more than the new Incendiary or Pain of Truth records. With that being said, this album is no surprise to anyone and they have been heading in this direction for three albums. If you aren’t into it that’s ok but they will always have my respect as being a torchbearer for hardcore and up and coming bands. Lastly, #canneverhaveenoughreba
Sophomore album from Open City out today, featuring Rachel Rubino (Bridge and Tunnel) on vocals, Dan Yemin (Paint It Black, Lifetime, Kid Dynamite) on guitar; Andy Nelson (Paint It Black, Ceremony) on bass, Chris Wilson (Ted Leo + the Pharmacists, Titus Andronicus) on drums, and produced by Arthur Rizk.
Cannot wait for the COLD AS LIFE show tomorrow. They have Never Ending Game playing at 2 PM which is the smartest move I've seen in a long time to get people to an all-day show early.
not a huge hardcore guy but the mil-spec album is fantastic, TO punching way above its weight this year
Was the Broken Vow album from last week ever posted in here? Definitely one of my favorite hardcore releases of the year:
Scowl had to drop off their shows this weekend so we got an extended militarie gun set last night. 17 songs, it was very sick
