Coming off ill blood no warning had like zero chance at making an album that pleased people. SS isnt as bad as it was perceived to be when it was first released. Really impressive that they released another great album like a decade after breaking up. I feel like big kiss goodnight had naysayers when it was originally released too.
Yeah it’s cool to see TUI and big kiss get their flowers now, but the inherent pop hooks on big kiss was a turn off to a lot of people back then. You still will find people that only really like the demo and stay cod.
Agreed on all fronts. No Warning very clearly wanted to appeal to the larger masses while trying to stay in the hardcore realm so when it didn’t break the glass ceiling and their diehards turned on them for the sound change they lost a lot of steam. Now they’re coveted. BGK sounds great and just is great. I couldn’t turn that album off for a long time.
Looks cool but all of these fest lineups are starting to look the same to me minus Dying Fetus and Bulls Shitt.
Extremely curious what the turnout for Everybody Gets Hurt is gonna look like, guessing it will be strictly old heads.
Have you been checking out Anti-Matter | Norman Brannon | Substack I was a huge fan of his zine back then. I'm happy he decided to bring it back online
