Jesus Piece rocks but I'm really hoping there's some more experimental stuff on the new record. Hard to believe it's been almost five years since Only Self.
Why does he get such a huge pass with basically everyone? Both Regulate and No Pressure get so much hype from (lots of respected) people in the scene. Is it just the normal hypocrisy or is there something unique with this situation?
Yeah I heard in some interview recently some band dudes I don't remember who but they were talking about No Pressure and they went on about how much they loved Harry. I don't get it.
Normal hypocrisy of the scene + a dude being in two popular bands + the incident itself taking place almost 10 years ago at this point leading to a lot of people to forget/not care/be complacent + the level of detail we have/had about the situation (I'm a bit hazy on the general details as far as my memory goes so someone feel free to correct me on this next statement if it isn't true). When the dude from Expire/Stone or the dudes from Homewrecker got cancelled, they each had multiple, detailed, and well-documented allegations against them. It went well from beyond there just being smoke that something was wrong to an outright blaze. IIRC Harry only had one allegation against him. As much as we need to believe survivors, it effectively takes more than one accusaation/incident to really oust someone from their position in the music scene (some Chris Brown level exceptions may apply unfortunately). Combined with the generally permissive nature of the scene and how shitty a lot of the gen pop in hardcore are, it's a recipe for him to continue on unabated.
Thanks for the explanation. I didn't know when it happened, or the details of the allegations. It's just strange to see such unanimous praise (especially within a supposedly "progressive" scene) for someone with this type of controversy surrounding them.
I’ve been trying to find the original allegations online and it seems like they totally got wiped from the Internet
