I remember getting a copy of that back when I was the metal/hardcore director at the radio station I worked at in college and being, "Why the fuck is this soundtrack so all over the place?"
I had all of the Saw soundtracks at one point and they were all over the place. But they always had some pretty good bands on it. Another solid group of albums were the Resident Evil movie soundtracks.
Converge (lol), Foreign Hands, Vatican, End, Jesus Piece, Sanction, Simulakra, Renounced, and Loathe come to mind for various reasons. Living Weapon and Fleshwater are good bands that feature members of Vein. I think I was mostly going off of Vein though.
Going through that list of releases made me physically winded. Reminded me that there are a lot of every time I die rip off bands in the mid to late 2000s.
That list was a trip down memory lane and a much simpler time haha. I’ve gone back and listened to It Dies Today’s Caitiff Choir. Thought that record would have been bigger.
Speaking of The Caitiff Choir, if anyone has any leads on a vinyl copy that isn't available at Discogs obscene pricing, point then my way.
Trustkill was definitely a gateway into hardcore for a younger me, ditto Ferret and Victory to an extent.
I just had a good discussion with someone yesterday about Carl and Ferret. He signed so many good bands that are huge today: KSE, ETID, Blood Has Been Shed (Pre KSE and Light the Torch). He currently runs Good Fight and I think he would be a great fit to take over vocals duties for ETID. His band, Nora, is so underrated. Josh runs Bullet Tooth now which has some pretty decent bands atm.
Man, I forgot about that lol. I feel like that’s why all the ETID albums past NJA went in a different sonic direction, because for a while it felt like every other band was slapping Southern rock riffs over bad Keith Buckley impressions. The Greenery really sticks out when I think about that. That’s a legit cool album
Reading up on Trustkill, I’m amazed that Dave from Throwdown and Brandan from Bleeding Through didn’t kick Josh’s ass for ripping them off despite being both being jacked up gym rats.
Not that there was probably any interest from the band or much demand, but I always in the back of my mind wanted ETID to have It Dies Today do a reunion set at TID. Pretty sure they were also a Buffalo band.
