It's Revolver so the top of their list shouldn't be surprising at all, but the Candy Apple and Ekulu mentions make this a great list for a mainstream rock publication.
I listened to the last The Armed record and it didn't really stick with me, and I think their gimmick is pretty stupid. Really undeniably talented musicians though.
Turnstile is definitely going to be the token hardcore/punk record on most publication lists, I agree
The Armed and Turnstile are gonna be this year's breakout mentions for more mainstream publications too IMO. Not a fan of The Armed and I definitely won't rate the Turnstile record that highly, but it's undeniable the impact both have had. Knocked Loose will probably get the nod in more rock oriented publications too like the Revolvers and the Kerrangs.
They do, but it doesn't detract from the fact that they'll be the token hardcore mentions on mainstream lists when there's a lot of other records both hardcore and adjacent that are equally deserving of the praise - two of which are on the Revolver list to me (Candy Apple, Ekulu). Still need to dig into the Scowl album, but since Nate gave it a good mention here, I'll add it to my queue for tomorrow.
