In today's random things that came up on shuffle that I forgot I absolutely loved a few years ago. IIRC these guys were supposed to release an LP in 2019, but that never came to fruition.

This was cool. Snapcase vibes along with some of the alt metal bands Revelation was signing left and right years ago.

You don’t hear much hardcore from Charleston. Hipster hardcore? Lol

  4. Hopefully a new release is on the way, their recent EP still is on my rotation.

Would love some of their merch for the east coast shows to go up online.

Give it time and pay attention to their Instagram. They'll put it up online in the next two weeks.

I’ve spoken to a couple musicians, etc that said people are more excited about merch than the actual music or seeing the band live. I wonder if a lot of it has to do with Covid or it’s just the new trend in punk/hardcore.

I mean I think that’s always been a thing in hardcore. Free Spirit and Rival Mob shirts were going for stupid amounts like 10 years ago while those bands were active.

I think it’s exponentially worse. Although, I know hardcore merch, especially vinyl, is very sought after.

I still think back to Fiddlehead at LDB in 2020. They had a line waiting for merch from the half pipe that snaked through the building and out the door a good ways during their set. It’s like the band you are waiting in line for is literally performing a great set and you are missing it for merch. Truly wild. I know I mentioned Spy merch above, but I would gladly pass on merch to actually watch them perform. Think that goes without saying, but just in case.

Speaking of merch. This is hysterical.

It’s not new. Power trip played United Blood a few years ago and brought Iron Age merch and there was a line for it and they weren’t even on the bill.

I know it's tough to produce vinyl/shirts right now, but why don't these band's just up the supply to meet the demand.

I know we have had this conversation before but a band like Gulch have set a bad example and taken the merch collecting to an extreme and I’m sure some bands are saying: “if they can do it, why can’t we?”

    Essentially the Nintendo of hardcore

I mean, they’ve re-pressed numerous shirts, and have made at least two runs of that anime hoodie that Depop kids go nuts about. It’s not like they are Converge making a shirt for literally every song on their last record. This really isn’t a new phenomenon by any means, although Depop/IG have certainly exacerbated the impact.

Gulch is cool. Gulch vinyl and merch are cool. Converge is cool. Converge vinyl and merch are cool. That's all I have to contribute.
