Damn didn’t realize that gulch show from a few months back was at a homeless encampment and they wrecked all their shit apparently. Mad lame.
From my Instagram scouring at the time, apparently that fell back on the booker not clearing things with the locals. SPY also played that show and seemed really pissed and worked to clean up everything afterwards. Never heard any specifics about it from Gulch. I get the feeling Gulch will be talked about as one of those bands that made a huge impact on their local scene, but won't have too much impact in the next 5-10 years. Also if a band wants to put out a few solid releases and hang it up, then I'm all for it. I'd rather a band be aware and know when to hang it up as opposed to shutting out mediocre releases after their prime.
My friend sings in this band and they are releasing a new 7”. New song is pretty fun too. Prison Suicide: Michigan Hardcore Band Slices Heads Off on “Been Sick” (PREMIERE) | Features
With Martín playing with New Found Glory right now I won’t be surprised if Todd Jones is back with Terror with the tour starting this week.
Doesn’t Todd work a pretty “normal” job? I thought that was a big reason Nails was selectively active. Could be mixing things up certainly.
My podcast tool doesn’t show a new episode since July 2020. It maybe exclusive on a different platform, but I’ve assumed it’s been on pause for the time being.
We'll see. The first show is tomorrow. Given he started doing a few things with the band again during the pandemic maybe he hops on for a little tour.
I guess I’m really curious to see what happens with Nails after John and Taylor left. They felt just as integral to the band as Todd for me. No more John freaking out while playing will be weird.
I a riff on the “you will never be one of us” title around that album cycle I heard some rumblings of people being sick of his hardcore meathead posturing so I’m not surprised Taylor didn’t want to be associated anymore
Todd always came off to me as a dude who can be pretty abrasive and blunt about how he feels about shit so it’s not surprising that someone would have an issue with him and not want to be associated with him. That said, Todd also seemed pretty chill on the podcast albeit in a hard ass kinda way so who knows.
This thread, the metal thread, and the shoegaze/dream pop thread are my honest favorites on this site, good people and good tunes.
I have no problem with Todd being blunt or abrasive or even being on a podcast. Dude has been around the scene for years so I'm sure he has a lot of going stories to share and knowledge to impart. He just needs to stay away from Twitter, Facebook, and Metalsucks.
