This and Gods Hate are my favorite hardcore releases this year so far.

Totally missed this but, new band featuring one of the vocalists from Set Your Goals, and members of Restraining Order and Maniac. Sounds like melodic hardcore that could’ve come out in the 90’s on Rev or Jade Tree. Pretty cool

Getting a ton of early Saves the Day vibes. Awesome!

The Bay Area Hardcore scene can do no wrong at this point. I'm loving this.

I'm trying to pin down what this sounds like to me, and I'm having a lot of difficulty doing it. Somewhere between Refused, Suicidal Tendencies, and traditional Euro hardcore? Not usually my thing, but it's super well done.

It’s like Turnstile met up with Suicidal Tendencies then they went to a 311 show and snagged the bassist. It’s very hard to describe but it’s definitely “hardcore” at its most basic.

I enjoyed this. It was really fun to be a SYG fan in the Mutiny/TWBTDOU days and it took me back. I was 15/16 when Mutiny! came out and everyone loved it. Thought they’d be huge, and the second LP release felt big at the time.

Mutiny! has aged surprisingly well. Great production, flows extremely well, and unlike so many pop punk albums it feels like it should be listened to as a whole.

Everything else they’ve released can go in the bin imo

Never really got into them but I've heard good things. Essentially easycore/melodic hardcore?

I think Mutiny! falls more on the melodic hardcore side of things. Like if Kid Dynamite had more Drive Thru Records hooks in their music.

I posted this in a Facebook group and one person said: "Set Your Goals?, now this song is going to be stuck in my head!"

  14. Mutiny! is the shit, I still throw that on. This Will Be The Death of us is a fun album.

Didn’t Matt already try to get a band off the ground?

I didn’t even hate the third Set Your Goals record, the production/mix was just terrible and made the songs feel really lifeless.

Those two songs they did with Chad Gilbert (I think?) were a lot of fun. Still bummed they never made another record after that.

Mutiny! imo aged a lot better than many pop punk albums in that era, still sounds great.

Near Dark reminds me of Saves the day and 90s pop punk (Big Drill Car, Gameface) or something like that

yeah it was like Life of Agony/Only Living Witness worship, which might have been cool if he didn’t have such a high pitch voice haha

For the most part aside from a handful of riffs on the Reset EP and Mutiny! that lean a little heavy, they’re a pop punk band at heart.

That slope album is basically another turnstile album. Even the artwork has TS logo vibes. Not hating though I dig it. Love to see more funky shit

It has Turnstile vibes but it’s FAR more diverse.

  25. This is awesome. I'm getting the Turnstile/TUI vibes and hear some Beastie Boys, maybe some Fait No More. Really cool stuff.

And some funky, early RHCP vibes. This is all over the place haha.
