Yo, this album is GREAT. It manages to mesh each "type" of melodic hardcore (think like...Strike Anywhere type meets MLIW type with some La Dispute type thrown in there) in a manner that's not only digestible and cohesive but so fucking cathartic. I love the emotional intensity in the dude's voice too. Generally not a fan of "old dude supergroups" but this is tight.
Yeah, that Be Well album is super good. It's somehow well-produced and raw at the same time. Dude's vocals are so strained but it works.
This is awesome. Political DC hardcore with noise, post-hardcore, and screamo in the mix from the members of Majority Rule, but more aggressive and featuring Maha Shami on vocals, who guested on MR's 2002 track "Packaged Poison":
I didn't either, but I found an article from last month about 10 releases that Mike from Be Well / Darkest Hour is listening to and it was first on the list so I checked it out and they had just dropped the album yesterday. It also led me to this: And Truth Cult: And apparently new Every Scar Has a Story out on Equal Vision:
Really fucking sad, had always seemed like an interesting guy, and that next Power Trip record was gonna blow them up. So bummed out
Guessing they will release the record and donate profits somewhere. Could also see them shelving it, but I feel like the best way to honor his legacy is to put that beast out for people to headbang to while they shed a few tears. Always felt like he had a lot to offer the world beyond music, be it books or movies. Really smart and powerful voice. All the love and condolences to his family, friends, and band.
