I feel like I've been behind on hardcore this year other than the heavy hitters (Mindforce, Gulch). Are Stepping Stone and The Fight good starting points?
PLANES MISTAKEN FOR STARS Frontman Diagnosed with Inoperable Cancer I don't know where else to post this, but they're adjacent so I'll post it here. Fucking terrible news.
Personal favorites of the year that I haven't seen mentioned much would include: Fortune's Fool Slowbleed Hostile Culture NYC Shootout Omerta Pain of Truth Gadget Mattachine (singer of Infant Island's side project) D.O.G. Giver Gloves Off Thirty Nights of Violence Last Gasp On Sight Seed of Pain Power Alone Gumm Youth Collapse (Greg from the Mongos) Take it to Heart Spirited Away Vision Quest Death Tapes Mud Dog Bent Blue Carbonite (mems of Jesus Piece) Constrict Vent Lead Dream Choice to Make Ill Communication Mutually Assured Destruction Initiate Pummel Your Spirit Dies End it Fake News Geld Wake the Dead ^mostly demos/EPs; I'm lazy so google search if you're really interested haha. Didn't mean to list so much. Only really ever liked Copper and Stars by PMFS but yeah, fuck cancer. Will also agree with this year's Drain > Rotting Out sentiment.
I want to draw everyone’s attention to how amazingly ridiculous this album cover is. I can’t stop staring at it. The EP is great as well!
Tomorrow's a big day for HC! We got Unreal City, Buried Alive, Reserving Dirtnaps, Be Well, These Streets, Tuning...anything else?
watching the Magnitude LDB set now, and I'm just reminded how great "To Whatever Fateful End" is I know it's only a year old, but I really think it's gonna be remembered as classic in 10, 20+ years.
I think Magnitude are destined the next big hardcore band on the same level as Madball, Terror, etc. Their songwriting gets better with each release.
