Sick album art. I'm stoked for this one. Also Firewalker dropped a new EP last week that I just noticed:
they have an hour's worth of music? haha i can't fucking wait! seeing them next wednesday in a 150 cap shed.
lol yeah that's what I was thinking. do they play their entire catalog and then another half hour worth of covers? my show isn't until October, but I read a post in the Tour forum that said they played for an hour last night.
Vein Setlist at Velvet Underground, Toronto Per setlist.fm, they're playing 17 songs with two new ones in the mix.
I typically would agree. Vein for a full hour is kind of too much, but it will be cool since Vein rules and the other bands probably won't be playing long sets.
I've been listening to this a lot lately. Easily one of my favourites of the year FFO: Mizery, Higher Power
So sometimes if I get customers in my job that are wearing band merch or sporting clusters of traditional style tattoos, I start up conversations about music and bands as an ice breaker. Two guys, probably around my age or a bit younger, had this look going and we started talking hardcore bands. And then one of them said that "Stray From The Path is their favorite hardcore band ever, and probably the most underrated hardcore band of all time."
I do not find them appealing at all. I know people don't like labeling bands as rip-offs, or usually have a work-around for why it's okay, but they are a legit rip-off band lol.
Stray From The Path are / were great but I admit I slowly lost interest in them once they amped up the RATM influences. Their early mathcore stuff was so good. They still rip live though.
The political views are a yes, but the music just strikes me as corny/trying too hard. Also made it more cringe inducing when I heard way back when, the guitarist (who I think is the primary SFTP writer) was in a Rage cover band before SFTP happened or took off. It’s fine to have some influence show through, but to so obviously bite another artist’s sound/style/content cohesively, and then constantly get mad at their fans/people for the comparison to Rage is laughable. I even remember the vocalist making a comment regarding it online about how they don’t actually sound anything like them. Yeah, OK Drew Dork.
