Do Harry and his bands use their platform to raise money for Women's charities or promote safe spaces for women at their shows? Or anything positive at all? I've never seen anything, feel free to prove me wrong though. To me it looks like he got called out for with his old band, went away for a couple of years, then came back with a new band and pretended nothing happened.

His bands fans don't help either. Seen people saying it's all ok because he's straight edge now.

No Good News have donated the profits from their last EP to a Long-Island based non-profit for survivors of domestic abuse before breaking up, which is not much, but it's better than nothing.

I have not read anything about Trail of Lies or Regulate doing something like that. Trail of Lies have some woke-ish lyrics on their LP... and that's about it. I agree that they could do more as bands, but I also understand the other guys' will to write and play music with their friend without having to carry his guilt for him.

This may be controversial and I may be influenced by my professional experience in legal, but unless someone poses a clear threat to society or has been found guilty by a court of law, I generally disagree the idea that people have to disappear completely or be shunned by everyone.

However, I think being known as "that guy" is a deserved social sentence that he should have to serve for the rest of his musical career, which is why I mentioned this to people in my local scene when I could.

I do understand that people make mistakes and it's good that he's actually admitted it unlike other people in similar situations, but I just can't get behind a guy and his bands if they just ignore his history and do nothing to promote positive change, especially in a scene that can be so toxic and unsafe for women.

Yes, the wonderful I studied legalities and the court system is 100% dependable so it doesn't matter since they're not charged argument.

Am I alive in 2019, or is this a simulation?

This a troll post so I won't spend more than a few minutes on this and I'll try not to flame you back.

I never said it did not matter. I responded to a discussion on this matter and said that I liked Trail of Lies and Regulate and that I don't think they should be ostracized, removed from lists or fests because of what this guy did nearly a decade ago.

I wrote that it was a moral issue for me to like these bands, and that I deal with it how I can, without ignoring what he did. Everyone has a personal moral compass, and I'm not saying I know better than anyone.

I only mentioned what I do for a living because it obviously influences my view of the world, and my opinion on rehabilitation and the right to move on vs total ostracisation.

The right to move on? The only person trolling you is yourself.

The bands in question should be done with him. People involved in areas of art like music, acting, directing, etc etc where they are in a position of power and influence that are abusive and then try to sweep it under the rug are not deserving of a second chance in said field.

" I may be influenced by my professional experience in legal, but unless someone poses a clear threat to society or has been found guilty by a court of law, I generally disagree"

I don't need to tell you how problematic this way of thinking is.

  12. Do you think the person he assaulted thinks it matters it was "a decade ago?" I'd imagine that experience is one they'll live with and suffer the consequences of for potentially the rest of their life.

It's 2019 and we're still talking about Harry Corrigan and he's virtually continued his life in music and people are still defending him online. So, next time anyone tells me that calling out sexual assault in the music industry "ruins mens careers" I'm going to explode in a ball of fire.

  13. I'm curious - where and how was he rehabilitated? What restitution was made? I'm not being snarky. I'm genuinely wondering if you have information nobody else does.

The issue is, harm doesn't happen in a vacuum. Quietly moving on and assuming business as usual and using the mere passage of time as evidence that change happened or redemption has been earned is not just lazy, but it's inaccurate. Damage has long legs and his presence causes harm to people who see how little accountability has been demanded. It revictimizes them. That's how trauma works.

I think if this Harry stuff happened now dude would be gone. My point being more of this sort has happened, mostly on a regional level but occasionally on the internet and people have been asked to leave and they do. It’s been to reassuring to see at a local level but of course it’s through my eyes. I don’t know how you get people to care retroactively though. I do think they’re plenty of kids that don’t really know. Ten years could be like two generations of hardcore bands and come out in and out or only casually into or whatever. It’s still a bummer though.
