my biggest complaint about LPs are the tuners. I replaced mine with Grover tuners and they are a huge quality of life improvement!
Never gearposted on here, this is my main guy. Ibanez Prestige RGR652AHBF, with a set of Bare Knuckle Juggernauts installed by me. It has a 5 way switch so you can get Strat-style parallel tones along with the heavy stuff so I basically just run this into my Quad Cortex for like 99% of sounds.
started messing around with the stereo functions on some of my pedals for the first time last night, because I do have two amps right now...hoo boy that's quite the rabbit hole lol. dangerous stuff!
It was through Etsy. I basically looked up who was making aluminium pickguards and then asked the guy to only cut the bridge HB and also leave out the control pot nearest to the bridge (since that was always an ass for me accidentally rolling it down whilst playing).
Might have had my credit card murdered by a good deal at a guitar show... I'm now selling guitars or eating beans for a while, but what a machine. Unbelievably comfortable and effortless to play.
One of the most effortless guitars I’ve ever owned. I think SG’s and 335s are the all-around best Gibson electric guitars.
Effortless is a great descriptor. When I was playing in bands and stuff I borrowed my friend’s SG for a show and tried SO hard to keep it because it felt perfect This one feels the exact same
I don't find any SG I've played to be heavy. Sometimes they have neck dive, but a good strap helps with that.
Heavy? Nah, the only SG’s that weigh 8lbs or more are the ones with 3 humbuckers and have a huge vibrola tailpiece. The SG i had was maybe just over 7lbs, if not less. They’re infamous for neck-dive but like its been said before, a thicker strap will fix that.
cool. gotta get rid of this guitar i have sitting at home collecting dust and get a more proper electric. westerly made guild songbird. dope guitar, i just gravitate towards my acoustic, and i have a very basic strat knockoff.
i guess it’s more about the body material than anything. mahogany is hardwood and heavy. preaching to the choir here
I primarily play Les Paul Specials/Juniors these days which aren’t too heavy but still heavier than other guitars so the SG definitely feels easier for me I also have an Epiphone SG with a vibrola that’s heavier
I have a SG Special Faded, with strap & everything it weighs 6.5 lbs. Nice and easy on my shoulders and back.
