i dunno what took me so long, i play so fucking hard. Favorite thing though is how sturdy they are at the bridge. I use my palm a lot, with the 11s you can apply a ton of pressure without choking the notes
I've started to stick heavy bottom sets on some of my guitars. I used to put 11-49s on my detuned guitars, but I've found the 10-52 is pretty usable from standard to drop C, which covers anything I'd play. Admittedly, it makes bends a bit of a fight, but I love the stability on the wound strings.
Oh, yeah. I'm 11-52 all the way. I just played the game of "Lowballing Pawn Shops on Reverb" and now own a basically new, refurbished Player series p bass.
I made the switch to 11-48’s a couple years ago and am also loving it. Not sure if I’ll go up to 52 but we’ll see. What strings do you all generally prefer? I was playing D’Addario 10’s for a long time then 9 years ago my roommate got me a set of Ernie Ball Cobalt 10’s and I never looked back.
I pretty much always use DR. I bulk bought 10's a while back and I'm still working through those, but I've been playing in half-step down more often recently and probably want to switch to 11's soon.
D’addario for 20 years. The store only had GHS Boomers when I got 11s the other day, which sent me off on a trip to try a buncha brands, so now ive got Ernies ball, boomers, and all manner of others to check out I haven’t shuffled between brands in years, but in general I haven’t found string brand to be a particularly significant choice. Way less so than picks for example
D'Addario XTs (varying guages) for me on all my electrics and acoustic. I used to like Rotosound, but I found that with multiple guitars, the strings went off so quickly that only one guitar would still sound good at a time. The coated strings mean they still sound decent after 3-4 months. Longer until they're completely shot.
I got scared off coated strings. In the early '00s, I had a couple of Schecter basses that shipped with Elixirs on them and those things shed their coating like crazy. Gotta imagine they've advanced since then, though.
It has arrived, along with a b/w/b guard to make it look proper. Very excited about having a p-bass again. I also have a Hipshot Xtender on the way and am already thinking about fancy pickups.
Musician friends! It's been a looong time, but we are finally making a new Chorus members compilation! Original songs, this time around. I'm not sure how many of you still follow the official compilation thread on here, so if you don't follow it, but you'd like to submit a track or two to the comp, check the post here and sub to that thread.
One vote for the red one. Not a fan of the more traditional looking bursts and big fan of anything red
I like the burst because it feels different than an sg. Usually would go red but something about this burst I dig
