That Ric looks so cool. I'm very intrigued by a 330 or 360 but i've never even seen one irl let alone played one
my dumbass went to get groceries and was gone for a half hour, of course, they tried to deliver during that window. so i have to wait until monday now. pain.
I got an Epiphone Firebird the other day (olive drag green one from zzounds) and it immediately has become one of my favorite guitars I own. sadly it already fell and I have to re-glue the nut :(
Popping in here to say I wanna love the new Tom DeLonge signature Starcaster but just can’t do it. I’ve never liked single pickup guitars that don’t have a tone knob, but they also got rid of the cool Starcaster headstock for a regular Strat headstock. Credit where it’s due though, at least it has a roasted maple neck and locking tuners.
Yeah, I think they’re so rad, but at the same I don’t know how much I’d actually play it after the honeymoon phase wears off. I have his strat and it’s cool/fun. But I don’t know if I want or need another guitar that does the same thing as the strat. Nor do I need a giant hollow body sitting around, especially when it doesn’t even come with a gig bag haha. The Strat and epiphone BJA Les Paul Junior are my two single pickup guitars and they’re so different, which is cool. Think I’m going to get an Epiphone Jerry Cantrell Wino Les Paul custom next. That guitar is a killer deal and it comes with a hardshell case.
Nice! That guitar looks sick. I played an Epiphone JJN Gold Glory in my local shop the other day and it sounded phenomenal, and it had my ideal neck shape (thick, 50’s style) with a satin finish.
Was at Bristol Guitar Show on Sunday and that was a lot of fun. The show has grown and the vibe was way more enjoyable than last year. Played all sorts of bits and pieces and even ended up ordering a new amp (finally), which is meant to arrive today. I was also very tempted by an FGN take on an LP Custom and whilst it was extremely nice, the price was too rich for something I wasn't really there to shop for. FGN are very impressive though. Applying some modern techniques (circular fretting, compound boards, etc) to quite traditional designs is a really nice touch. Eventually I will get around to buying a more traditional LP (something closer to a Standard or a Custom) and FGN would be on the list to try again in that game. Definitely a dangerous place for my wallet!
JJN's are really cool. It's awesome that he actually plays them too. My only, personal, issue with them is I wish the volume and tone knobs were set up like juniors.
Fell down a Youtube guitar demo rabbit hole the other day, and goddamn, I want a Yamaha Revstar with P90s in the worst way. I’ve never played one and it looks/sounds like a perfect guitar.
just listed a p nice Strat for sell. anybody interested? PM me here, Reverb sucksss. Fender Stratocaster - Deluxe Roadhouse ‘18 | Reverb
I love the Delonge Starcaster in pink. Recently picked up a black Epiphone Les Paul Special II Plus Top and swapped the bridge pickup out with a Gibson P-94. Trying to decide what to put in the neck. My original plan was to make it a LP Jr style, but with the plus top, it would be too much work to cover up the existing neck pickup rout. I don't want to put a big pickguard over the figured maple veneer. Thinking maybe a PAF style, SD 59 or something like that?
I played a Hiwatt Custom 50 on consignment today and it's one of my favorite amps I've played, next to my old Hex Micro T in the market for an electric guitar + amp for the first time in two years, super excited. it's just been me & my acoustic for the last couple years.
Having sat at home playing my St James at 2 watts for the last month, I got to take it to a rehearsal space and switch it to the full 50 watts at the weekend. I'm so pleased with that purchase. Also, whilst it obviously doesn't sound like a 4x12, I'm genuinely shocked by how full it sounds as a 1x12 combo. Also, being able to walk all my stuff from my car to the studio door in one trip feels like such a treat.
If you wanna keep it in the Gibson family, I’d say a 57 Classic or Burstbucker 2 would be good depending if you want potted or unpotted. I’ve always thought the SD 59s are a little overrated, but that’s just me. I much prefer the Pearly Gates, Jazz, Alnico II Pro or Saturday Night Special pickups in the neck positions. I think the A2P might be your best bet because it’s EQ probably balances better with a P94. The other 3 pickups I mentioned have a lot of high-end.
It's an RGR652AHBF in Weathered Black. I set it up for Drop C using Stringjoy 11-58 and the action gets crazy low. So comfortable to play.
Haha. Holy shit. You've grabbed the exact model I've had my eye on for years. Glad you're enjoying it!
Yeah I don't think I'll ever go back to smaller than that. I actually just got my jag set up with 12s in Eb as I thought the shorter scale and lower tuning would warrant going a size up to feel the same, but I can tell they're thicker and I actually might like them even better.
