My goodness, I have a problem. Love my Les Paul Junior Tribute Double Cut. Happened to browse Reverb and came across a dream guitar of mine for a killer deal. I usually put some sort of offer in, but this was already in 4 other carts, so I jumped right on it. So many of my favorite musicians play or have played one of these at some point....Brian Baker, Billie Joe, Chris Carrabba, Ray Toro, Paul Westerbeg to name a few....Super excited about it.
picked this up today — 1971 Ampeg V2 :’) now I just need a cab for it lol this thing is gorgeous. Gibsons with P90s are much more appealing to me than Gibsons with humbuckers. then again I mean I just think P90s rule in general so I guess I am biased.
Ampegs rule! Congrats! And agreed. I really like p90’s, especially on gibsons. It’s like their version of the telecaster. Les Paul standards are cool too. I still want one some day and I’ll probably end up going as traditional as you can get with a heritage cherry burst. BUT Les Paul standards/customs with p90…..different beast. Also, suuuuper expensive.
yeah, they’re great and vintage ones can be found for a steal sometimes (I only paid $350 for the V2, which I feel qualifies as a steal), I didn’t have much interest in them until fairly recently, and now I have two from roughly the same year haha. one for bass and one for guitar :) I honestly love P90s so much, it’s insane I still don’t have a guitar with them yet. that said, I have my eyes on the Harmony Juno, hoping to grab one of those someday in the not too distant future: but yeah all the Gibsons I want feel like pipedreams to me bc they’re all pretty expensive and not super high on my priority list haha. I tend to really like their weirdo/rarer models. anyway I honestly would love to hear some of your gear in action, do you happen to have a page where you post clips or something?
Those look fun. I came across these double cut tributes yesterday. They're Kretzmann 59-DC models. They're only $300! Clearly a tribute to the Gibson LP Jr Tributes.
I sat at the purchase screen for a good 5-10 minutes haha. That matte black is something else...man Wife would kill me since I get a Squier Deluxe tele recently...
can’t go wrong with a tele. I have one and another I’m building. Timeless and versatile slabs of wood.
Here we have a Fender parts Telecaster built to my specs. It's essentially a more affordable (and quicker) way of getting myself a custom shop tele. Turned out pretty rad. Below are the parts used: - Fender Vintera 50's Telecaster Alder body and hardware with a Road Worn vintage blonde nitro finish - Fender @jmascis signature maple tele neck with a 9.5" radius, Deep C-shape profile, jumbo frets, nitro road worn finish (perfect specs, IMO) - Fender Custom Shop Handwound '51 Loaded Nocaster tele pickups (Sounds AMAZING) *All parts sourced through The Stratosphere except for the pickups. Got those from someone in the UK.
Roughly $1,120 with all tax/shipping included. The neck was the most expensive part. Weighs 7.8lbs per my scale. The Stratosphere rules.
New personal build. A Tele Jr. -Fender Noventa tele neck -Alder Fuchsia Metal Flake body -Fender Hybrid Tele bridge with compensated brass saddles -Custom silver metallic pickguard I painted as a nod to those beautiful Gretsch pickguards -Custom NoName Handwound/Overwound Tele bridge pickup with a push in the mids for a nice fat sound. Wired LP Jr style. -Custom control plate from a hometown/local shop All set up. Just gotta screw in the pickguard down, which I’ll do tonight. I think it turned out sick. Very proud of this one.
Do it. There’s not enough of them out there. I have a sparkle strat in the works. It will pretty much a sibling to this Tele but different color.
I take it you apply the finish to the body yourself. I ought to find a new project guitar and do that sometime
