Can't speak for the action, but personally I would say learn with your fingers first, it'll make you a much more versatile player in the long run.

I knew that's what I'd probably hear and I'm dreading it but I'm hoping maybe I can get decent at finger picking out of it haha. the goal is to rip off Lou Barlow though so idk how useful that'd actually be

Just take it easy in the early stages, I remember my finger tips used to blister like bubble wrap when I first started learning. It's definitely worth it in the long run.

As far as playing with fingers or pick, i think its about preference and genre you plan on playing in. For rock, I definitely prefer the picked bass tone, I just think it drives way better, but there are definitely times a finger sound is awesome too. Maybe pick one to start and then add the other one to your playing as you go! I'd think pick would be easiest to start with however maybe fingers would be better to develop early on since it's easier to learn the picked motion than the fingers motion. Anyway, not sure if that was helpful but GOOD LUCK!

yeah going with fingers just bc I already play guitar and I don't think there would be significant benefit to using a bass pick and not trying to cultivate new dexterity that I can apply to both. but the thing about the tone and whatnot did occur to me

If you can already play guitar, then definitely learn finger style. Picking on a bass comes pretty easily after a guitar anyway, what with the string spacing being greater and the strings being bigger so that you can really get some purchase on them.

  8. Really wonder if Gibson is going to come for bigger brands like ESP. It feels like the Eclipse has become so iconic of a guitar especially for heavier styles that it's almost unique from a Les Paul.

not to be a dumb law school bro but i would imagine they would have trouble going after ESP with the eclipse being on the market for so long

Not a good look from Gibson. I didn't think that many of the body shapes even had trademarks on them because they're too generic to do so. Pretty sure that in Fender's case, it's only the headstock shapes they have copyright on.

I can understand them attacking stuff like the import "Chibsons", but it starts to look pretty bad when they go after other legitimate brands who are building their take on an LP.

  11. Yeah I hope you're right. Or maybe they've already learned from the bad PR anyway. I can't believe Agnesi is that dumb.

I like Agnesi but the whole time watching this video and the fallout from it I just kept think “ugh Mark wtf are you doing?”

he looked like he was reading a teleprompter. i don't even like him that much from the norm's days, but i don't think he's really the one to blame for that.

Got a $100 prepaid gift card that can be used at Guitar Center among other places. If you had only $100 to spend on a pedal, what would you all get?
