Thanks! Went into GC today for it, and I guess Squier is making these with Indian Laurel fretboards now due to rosewood being endangered, so they had one with that fretboard, and one with rosewood. Played them head to head, and went with the rosewood. Never realized fretboard material made that big of a difference in tone until now. Either way, definitely recommend checking one of these out.
Yeah, I think next guitar is going to be one of these bad boys. I bought my telecaster this year so I'm going to hold off for a bit. Side note - just purchased a Red Panda Particle pedal for a great price. Pretty stoked for that.
as someone whose never used an octave fuzz... wouldnt it be better to just stack a pog or something with your fave fuzz?
nah. the octave when mixed with the fuzz circuit interacts a little differently than separate octave added into the fuzz. idk if it’s under $200 on reverb but the hoof reaper by EQD rules
maybe its my shortcoming but I cant understand how it could be that different octave fuzz is just a stacked octave and fuzz circuits in series, right?
Not to my understanding. Octave fuzz tends to be an effect where harmonics in the fuzz create the octave. I don't think the two effects are generated one after the other in the same way they would be if you ran a pure octave pedal into a fuzz. I think a proper octave pedal would typically create a much more sensible octave of the original signal too. Any octave fuzz effects I've heard have tended to sound kind of crazy.
I've got that Void reverb pedal too! It's fun. It's not very dynamic or anything, but I like the shimmery/kinda shoegaze-y effect it has.
i’m actually working with a friend to design a circuit with a fuzz and full +1/-1 octave with clean blend
my buddy does circuit building for a government contract so i send him ideas of what i want and it’s easy for him to design the circuit from a non-music standpoint. and then i do all the guitar stuff.
Got my Red Panda Particle pedal today. Man oh man, what a pedal. Spent 2 hrs just tinkering with it as my son watched and helped. Love it!
one of these is shipping out to me now, might do a demo for it. kinda similar to the particle’s glitch:
Anyone have an opinion on the NUX Solid Studio pedal? Thinking about getting one for my home recordings.
Gibson have decided to re-release The Paul. As a budget instrument, it's being priced at $1400. That's affordable in the minds of Gibson? I mean, I own a few and bought one very recently, but they really don't do themselves any favours.
So if I want to install a hardtail bridge instead of the trem one, am I able to keep the claws all attached so the ground wiring works? Tried looking around online but I am not seeing anything on this swap... Don't think my partscaster can handle a trem...
