The more I think about this film, the more I love it. I’m not usually one that needs to sit with my thoughts for a while on whether or not I enjoyed something, it’s almost always immediate. But going home and looking over the original text and piecing things together has been, well, fun. Definitely want to see it again, been missing the theatre so much I’m going to catch a late showing to avoid as many people as possible. Also need to rewatch A Ghost Story, that film really stuck with me, not sure which one I would consider the greater film.

One of my friends said this had "terrible dialogue" and I'm considering ending the friendship. Just an insane thing to say.

Hmm. A lot to chew on. Can’t say I loved it, but I also think a good portion of it was over my head a bit. I’m still thinking about it a couple hours after. Which is a good sign usually.

i personally think you should just go in fresh and not read it. It’s not super faithful to the source material

I've read that people are supposed to read some poem first otherwise they won't get the movie.

I just want to avoid another Once Upon A Time In Hollywood situation where I was just fucking confused for like 3 hours.

I don't think you need to read the poem to understand the basic story. I read a summary of it last night after I watched it and it helped me understand the film more at a thematic level, but it's not something that's going to change how you follow the plot.

Yeah I intentionally went in not familiarizing myself with this specific story, and I don’t think it would have changed anything. It’s fun to go and read how people interpreted certain facets of the film afterwards, but I wouldn’t do that until after you see it as not to spoil anything.

It’s still an awesome experience, just be prepared to have questions afterwards— which is totally fine, haha.

Yeah this isn’t necessarily a plot driven movie. Even if you know the story of Sir Gawain, the movie is more about the sensory experience, which no thread or review can really prepare you for. You should be fresh either way! We’re excited to see your reaction when you do see it, either way it turns out lol

The king is King Arthur and Gawain is one of the knights of the round table. That's all the background knowledge you need.

I didn’t know anything going in and enjoyed the mystery of that. Certain plot points floored me because I had no expectation at all. There were some things that I didn’t understand, but the tone is so surreal and dreamlike anyway that I don’t think I would have been any less confused knowing the source well. I’m reading more about it now and enjoying that, especially because it didn’t affect my view of any artistic choices made. It seems to be a very loose interpretation with some major changes to the characters, so having the written version fresh in my head may have caused problems.

Also that shirt was an instant buy for me. Love my other Online Ceramics collaborations and this one is beautiful. I wish the long sleeve was a different color, cream is just not something I wear often.

I really love the shirts but I’m finding it hard to justify paying 65-100 on it. Think I’ll just wait for a special edition 4K blu-ray
