Can we please have one Disney remake that doesn’t have the tint all the way down and the color grading being super muted?

I’ll see it because Lowery rules, but geez.

 

Pete’s Dragon is the only good live action Disney remake and I love Lowery, but this looks awful.

 

How broadly are we willing to define “live action Disney remake”? Because I have a deep, irrational love of Cruella, more than almost any other Disney-owned big movie in the past five years, lol.

But, yeah, that umbrella of films is largely cynical, lifeless trash. I could see Lowery doing one of the better ones, but that’s such a low bar. Based on the trailer, I’ll be fine not watching that.

 

Honestly the most exciting part of this is that if Lowery is truly a “one for them, one for me” filmmaker then he can start working on his true follow up to The Green Knight.

 

let him make that Disney money and then do what he wants with his blank check

 

I don't doubt that Lowery made Peter Pan as good as it can be, but boy does that look bad.

I'm really starting to miss the days of the Don LaFontaine voiceover trailer. Why does every trailer have to make a movie seem like life or death now? It seems like a very weird tone in particular for what I imagine is a whimsical adventure film.

 

Wasn't this shot a really long time ago and Lowery already started on his next film?

Anyways, Lowery is my favorite current filmmaker.

Just remembered that this is technically a Christmas movie. Hope I don’t forget in 11 months.

They canceled a bunch of screenings for it around here, I assume to push more showings of Interstellar and/or Wicked. Sucks!
