Reading through the AMA now, kind of interesting that Lowry confirmed the final line was meant to be taken in a friendly way, as the Green Knight thought Gawain learned his lesson and wasn’t actually going to chop him.

Do a significant amount of people think the knight actually killed him? It wouldn't be much of a test then.

I assumed it was meant to be ambiguous (though I assumed it was a joke)

Obviously the film does not have to follow the poem completely, but the knight does not kill him in the poem. He proved his courage by coming all that way and accepting his fate.

The Knight only spared him because he discarded the girdle too. He had to fully accept his fate with courage. If he had kept it on he would have killed him.

the stupid move was announcing that the VOD would be available tomorrow before they had the screening tonight. I almost paid $20 for the stream tonight, thinking it might not be piratable tomorrow, but now I KNOW it will be pirateable tomorrow

    This was good.

The main criticism I have is most of the encounters felt weak or rushed, especially compared to the slower pace of the rest film. Those parts are supposed to be the most interest, take the time to write them so, make us engage, give us time to feel the weight. Oh Giants! Hi, Bye! back to wandering around.

The 3rd act was better, then there was the cumshot which I guess was the icing on his pathetic cake of a quest. I found the ending sequence incredibly strong and moving.

Depends how you read the film. Is it about learning courage? or Mum's elaborate plot to murder her loser son?

I couldn't get past the first half of this, what a nonsensical slog, and I usually like shit like this so its not like this wasn't in my lane, it just went nowhere

And as wonderful as she usually is, what the hell was Alicia Vikander's accent supposed to be? "Your leddehhhhh"
