My girlfriend and her brother both his me with a "WTF this was literally the worst movie I've ever seen in my life" as we were leaving the theatre.

I liked it, but I get where they are coming from lol.

The reactions have me wanting to see this even more, sucks there's not even a rescheduled release date over here.

I do not understand the harsh negative reactions whatsoever. I get not liking it, but good lord.

having a hard time remembering the last time i watched what felt this close to a perfect movie. maybe the lighthouse, parasite or marriage story.

yep, those are some perfect movies.

  13. i'd definitely recommend seeing it in theaters before watching it at home, if possible. it's too pretty to not see on a big screen first.

It is an art film in wide release. Those reactions are almost always going to happen.

I had a few people in the showing I went to just leave half way through because I assume they were bored/expecting this to be a LOTR type action/adventure movie. I feel like a lot of people have the attention span of a fly these days and the lack of instant gratification here is sure to cause general audiences to have a harder time with this.

A lot of my favorite theater experiences are people completely misunderstanding the type of film they were getting into. I remember a dad walking out with his preteen daughters two minutes into Spring Breakers.

The trailer for this is definitely misleading, so I can get the casual film goer feeling a bit duped. Have no idea why filmmakers do that anymore

just to get more people to see the film. Even if they dislike it, they still got their money.

Agreed but everyone complained it was slow and boring after the movie a lot like Green Knight

shocking since I can't relate at all. I love it, but saw it late on streaming at home. If I saw that in theatres, I would have been queasy and petrified the whole time.

That would explain it. But then, even if its up to the production company, you'd think a group like A24 wouldn't be down for making it look like more of an action film than it actually is

Personally I don't think it was sold as an action film, I think it was sold as being more of a creepy horror film than it actually is.

But generally I do agree that the trailers misrepresented what the movie actually is to some degree.
