That's dramatic lol. It's got some cool stuff in it and I like Alex's vocals on it. It's just a little bland compared to the stuff around it.
Nightmares is a v good song. I don't know what I would cut LYR even if I wanted to. I legitimately enjoy all those songs.
The label made them record like five different versions of "That Girl" – they were convinced it would be a big single. But obviously it ... wasn't.
SWIR: Come One, Come All / This Is How We Do NP: Too Much DW: I Feel Like Dancin' / Just the Way I'm Not / That Girl DP: The Irony of Choking on a Lifesaver FH: Satellites / Dancing with a Wolf / The Edge of Tonight LYR: Every song but Last Young Renegade
If you had told me back in 2006 that this band would record something like Afterglow or Ground Control, and it would be great, and I'd like it (I was very closed-minded to pop stuff back in high school) I would've thought you were crazy.
Least favorite tracks: SWIR: The Beach NP: Hello Brooklyn DW: That Girl, No Idea DP: Paint You Wings FH: Runaways LYR: Nice2KnoU
You don't even like Drugs & Candy or Nice2KnoU? I feel like those are both pretty classic sounding ATL songs, especially Nice2KnoU. Also it pains me to see you not liking Irony of Choking or Satellites.
Am I the only one who loves Dancing With a Wolf? It's always been a favorite of mine on Future Hearts, but I never see it mentioned anywhere.
The last two albums are their best. In fact, I’d even say at this point nostalgia is the only thing drawing me back to SWIR. songs id cut: SWIR: Stay Awake, Come One Come All NP: Therapy, make Poison the closer DW: Time Bomb, Under a Paper Moon DP: none I guess FH: Dancing with a Wolf LYR: none
Those two are probably the most decent songs on the album after the title track. It's going to be interesting listening to them again when the LYR round-up starts. I always thought The Irony of Choking on a Lifesaver was a little cheesy and has kind of a yo-yo beat, if you know what I mean. Satellites is not bad, just boring, it was a terrible way to start the album.
I think Art of the State would've been an amazing opener for that album, too bad they never did anything with that intro.
Nope I dig it. Never understand the hate on that one. The chorus is one of my favs on that album. Also I just think this band is making albums that are accessible to different tastes. Generally their younger female fan base love a lot of the ones people on here hate. I haven’t been a a huge fan since NP, but they’ve done a great job of changing their sound and still appeasing different demographics.
Hopefully you'll like it more this time around. I'm going to be honest I don't know what you mean by a yo-yo beat at all... lol that song is just so catchy I love it, but I could get why it's not for everyone. You don't seem like a big fan of their pop leaning songs and that one definitely is, so it makes sense you wouldn't love it. I love Satellites as an opener. It's one of my favorite parts about Future Hearts. Satellites straight into Kicking & Screaming is so great.
Idk, I think the intro on Do You Want Me (Dead?) is a great way to open the album. But I would be happy either way as long as Art of the State got to be the intro track at some point.
Yes, exactly. My taste is a little more rock oriented than pop, so I think that's were fans of the band split.
I feel like, reading the past two pages of this thread, I need to listen to more of ATL. I have not listened to any of DW, DP + FH. I will listen to them for the first time when those parts of this bracket come up and try to participate.
