The Greasy Strangler (2016)

Just watched this movie and need to talk about it.

I heard someone else describe it as Napoleon Dynamite directed by John Waters and I think that's pretty fitting.

Anyone seen this crazy ass movie?

I love schlock horror movies as much as the next guy but I thought this was pretty bad and boring for a lot of it. Granted, it's a movie I will probably ever forget.

Boring?

 

It's like if Tim and Eric directed Napoleon Dynamite. It's weird as shit but also hilarious.

 

Maybe not boring, but extremely repetitive. I feel like this could have been a solid short.

 

I get that. There were certain bits that ran too long and recurring jokes that probably recurred a little too much, but personally I was anything but bored. Maybe I was just the right amount of drunk/stoned, but this movie really worked for me.

 

I agree with the repetitiveness of the movie made it a little boring for me. It really did seem like the same scenes over and over again, which made what started out as this crazy ass weird and funny movie end up being kinda dull by the end.

Props for going so out there though.

 

I loved it, it was like a movie length episode of Bedtime Stories

lol. I know. I don't know what keeps drawing me back to it. I mean, I didn't just watch it alone 3 times... I was showing it to new people each viewing.

I should, but I didn't. I told them it was a WTF movie, but I didn't go into too much detail. I showed it to people with similar sensibilities to myself, so I wasn't too worried as to how they'd react, but they both still found it fairly off putting despite enjoying it to varying degrees.
