Wake of the Flood definitely worth a listen too. Live is a different beast but Skull & Roses and Cornell 5/8/77 seem like the ones to start with based on your likes.
Sick. When I saw they added July dates I decided to go that route since I don’t have shit going on in July. Pretty excited for this.
Same. That’s going to be a fun week for me with summer league, dead and co, then go to LA the next day for sound and fury.
no, unfortunately. my wife allowed for one night of a baby-free excursion but i couldn’t swing the rest
No Expectations 071: Eyes of the World also this is a great read on the experience. i posted a bunch of pics and vids on IG if you wanna see some of the experience
i’m glad they’re pulling it off, they’re clearly not going for the same thing phish were and they couldn’t do that with 25 shows but if the people there are loving it, godspeed
been a very casual Dead fan for a while and have followed Josh the last year. This essay really opened up my eyes to some stuff and I've been diving all week having a blast. think I've finally been fully turned.
It's funny how "Althea" tends to be *the song* that does it for people. It did for Mayer too, via Pandora, lol, and look at the boy now
Lol oh man that's a great piece I love Josh. the anecdote about the EDC bro in the elevator killed me
Meanwhile here I am and it was the Chuck Berry covers for me ahaha turns out when a band opens a set with a blistering promised land you want to hear more
finally taking the Dick's Picks deep dive. gonna try to do one a week. the here comes sunshine, Mississippi, he's gone and stella blue were all incredible. didn't care for that playing in the band personally and the bluesier numbers (big river/big railroad blues) didn't do much for me but overall thought it was pretty incredible. excited to keep going.
