Happy 50th to Workingman's Dead, a wonderful record that was followed a few months later by (imo) an even better one
Happy to be here. Between covid and getting into Destroyer, Steely Dan and now the Dead 2020 really has me feeling like an adult lol. Since I’m new I’m gonna keep it simple. What are other sets I should check out if my main goal rn is to keep hearing more versions of fire on the mountain??
Welcome! Okay so the Cornell 77 version is kind of the definitive "Scarlet>Fire" imo, at least based on my very non exhaustive listening, so know that. The "Europe 72" live album and the "Sunshine Daydream" concert were both early listens for me that made me buy in. Both should be on Spotify
Also to actually answer your question, here's a site where people can vote on the best versions of the band's songs. I don't always agree with how people vote but it has made me seek out some sets I probably wouldn't have otherwise Grateful Dead best Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain | headyversion Grateful Dead best Fire On The Mountain | headyversion
Expected this after the Workingman's one earlier this year, stoked on it. My favorite Dead studio album.
Update: It does in fact rule. Check it out if yall haven't yet Remastered American Beauty sounds great too. Can't say I notice a ton different but also hard to say because I recently got new headphones so everything sounds better haha
Got the 3XCD 50th anniversary reissue of Workingman's Dead today. The live set they included sounds great, and ofc the album proper is a stone cold classic
So excited to see this band four weeks from tonight! And happy that they've got a good vax policy too
Listening to last night's set 2 right now, banger. They sound as good as I've hard them right now. They really wanted to redeem themselves back at Woodstock
