The Ghost Inside reveal in a new podcast that they regret firing their bassist for all the racist shit.

We were just feeling the pressure from fans, people on social media, and even some peers We felt the pressure and we made a decision against the wishes of our management and label. I think we all just saw something going on that was like a lose/lose. And we just felt like that was the call to make at the time and immediately felt bad and felt wrong. We knew that, we never stopped talking to Jim or anything. We literally have chatted every day since.

Lambgoat has more of the transcription so you don’t have to listen:

Looking back now, we definitely acted hastily and definitely made the wrong call. It’s so hard to understand all the mental gymnastics you have to do in a situation like that, under pressure, and how hard it is to process everything that’s coming at you all at once. It’s so easy to jump to the wrong decision just based on the pressures of what’s going on on the Internet.

All this does is paint the whole band in a bad light, as it should.

They are pandering to their fanbase. Literally every post on Facebook is littered with “Bring Jim Back” posts and nothing positive. Super sad.

It's still their band so they could bring him back at any point if they really feel this way right? But we've all broken up with someone, wished we didn't have to, but understood it was the right decision

LOL what tools, sadly fans of this shitty band don’t care what he said.

I mean, ‘shitty band’ might be a bit of a stretch.

He was justifiably let go. Sure it’s their right to bring him back, but it’s also my right to say that’s shitty and giving into their ignorant fanbase.

This seems incredibly tone deaf. Not only do they regret firing a racist who called someone a racial slur they then go on to admit they're still super close with him lol.

    Better than you, sorry

I don’t know this band but just read up about it. They’ve gone through some stuff. As a person of color I lean on the side of “the majority of white Americans have used the n word.” I would say 95% of the people on this site have used it. Is cancel culture good? Maybe. It gets people to behave better. But it’s not cool reading other people throw stones at this dude who is clearly apologetic when the people throwing stones no doubt have used the word in their lifetime.

But that’s essentially what’s wrong. Everyone throwing stones until the light is on them.
