- I asked about a 15th anniversary There Are Rules show, he said I would be the only one there, lol
- the band spoke on the flight to Fest, they want to do something creative and some writing
- they may do a special release for On A Wire in 2027, maybe some shows for it

New solo album is pretty good

Enjoying it a few songs in. For some reason I expected it to be all acoustic, so the full band stuff is a nice surprise. Matt's voice sounds pretty ragged at times but he still makes it work.

 

I think Matt's voice sounds exactly as it should for a 40-smth musician, and I mean it in a positive way, I love the way it sounds and I'm really satisfied with all the layers here (I still have 3 more songs to go)

Ps. I'd be there (somewhere) with you (2) guys for the There Are Rules played in full hahh!

Something To Write Home About has a 2.0 from this clown website. Though the 25th anniversary has a more reasonable (for their standards) 7.6 so that's nice.

But On A Wire is no 3.3!

There Are Rules is under appreciated by most humans. That's a shame. I think it's really neat.

 

Especially the Deluxe Edition which has some gems on it.

I think I would have preferred a deluxe edition release of the Simple Science EP just so those songs could be emphasized more

 

Probably super late to the party on this one but I'm currently listening to Matt's book "red letter days" on Spotify when I'm driving and I'm really enjoying it. Basically up to the point where they get on Vagrant for STWHA..

 

in his weekly chat recently he confirmed he is working on a sequel to the book!

 

Yeah it’s awesome and given that he recorded it himself going audio over book itself is a must

I've been listening to Problems for the first time after their recent Bandsplain episode. You know what? Pretty good record!

 

love it, especially as spring starts to arrive

 

Kind of a dud bandsplain ep if you’ve read Pryor’s book but I did appreciate a lot of the attempting to contextualize their place in history
