good Get Up Kids intel on Matt's Q&A on facebook tonight https://www.facebook.com/mattpryorsongs/videos/710281338797246 - I asked about a 15th anniversary There Are Rules show, he said I would be the only one there, lol - the band spoke on the flight to Fest, they want to do something creative and some writing - they may do a special release for On A Wire in 2027, maybe some shows for it
Enjoying it a few songs in. For some reason I expected it to be all acoustic, so the full band stuff is a nice surprise. Matt's voice sounds pretty ragged at times but he still makes it work.
I think Matt's voice sounds exactly as it should for a 40-smth musician, and I mean it in a positive way, I love the way it sounds and I'm really satisfied with all the layers here (I still have 3 more songs to go) Ps. I'd be there (somewhere) with you (2) guys for the There Are Rules played in full hahh!
3 Get Up Kids records on sale at Polyvinyl right now if you need to add them to your vinyl collection There Are Rules (Deluxe Edition) - $22.50 Problems - $15 Kicker EP - $12.75
Anyone able to give The Get Up Kids the 10s they deserve Something To Write Home About has a 2.0 from this clown website. Though the 25th anniversary has a more reasonable (for their standards) 7.6 so that's nice. But On A Wire is no 3.3! The Get Up Kids - Albums, Songs, and News | Pitchfork
As long as they get respectable scores on rateyourmusic, that's all I care about https://rateyourmusic.com/artist/the-get-up-kids All of their main releases rate above a 3 out of 5, with the exception of There Are Rules Woodson EP - 3.52 (271 ratings) Four Minute Mile - 3.62 (2,993 ratings) Red Letter Day EP - 3.68 (287 ratings) Something To Write Home About - 3.61 (4,922 ratings) Eudora - 3.41 (221 ratings) On A Wire - 3.20 (663 ratings) Guilt Show - 3.17 (499 ratings) Live @ The Grenada Theater - 3.64 (123 ratings) Simple Science EP - 3.07 (111 ratings) There Are Rules - 2.61 (292 ratings) Kicker EP - 3.18 (181 ratings) Problems - 3.13 (345 ratings) That's not bad honestly
Especially the Deluxe Edition which has some gems on it. I think I would have preferred a deluxe edition release of the Simple Science EP just so those songs could be emphasized more
Probably super late to the party on this one but I'm currently listening to Matt's book "red letter days" on Spotify when I'm driving and I'm really enjoying it. Basically up to the point where they get on Vagrant for STWHA..
TGUK, SDRE, and JEW are doing 3 shows together! and then Hey Mercedes is doing 1 show with TGUK and JEW
Gotta get them asap! most bootleg designs are usually up 24-72 hours depending I also posted them in this thread The Bootleg Tees Thread • forum.chorus.fm
I've been listening to Problems for the first time after their recent Bandsplain episode. You know what? Pretty good record!
Kind of a dud bandsplain ep if you’ve read Pryor’s book but I did appreciate a lot of the attempting to contextualize their place in history
