Jim screwed up one of the guitar riffs towards the end of Shorty on Four Minute Mile. Not overly noticeable, but it's a minor slip up. The sound quality on the Eudora version sounds clearer and crisper to me too.
I went to the show in Cleveland at Grog Shop on Sunday. Had some really awesome talks with Rob, Ryan, Jim, and Dustin after the show. A night I'll never forget. It is safe to assume that two years from now, we are getting an incredible 25th anniversary tour for STWHA.
Had an absolute blast watching them play Four Minute Mile on Saturday even if it's like my third or fourth favorite album of theirs. Also, I just realized this weekend that Rob isn't in Spoon anymore and hasn't been for a few years.
Yeah, he left them three years ago during the Problems tour in 2019. Rob has a really successful cocktail bar he owns in Kansas City, as well as other side businesses that do well. Also a wife and kids. He is winning at life. I think he is the glue that holds Get Up Kids together. Probably the best guy to talk about There Are Rules with too. He LOVES that album.
There Are Rules is so good. All kinds of cool production stuff going on. I also just love watching him and Ryan groove together. It always makes me feels good since I played bass in bands with my brother drumming for years.
I love There Are Rules too, it's such a let down their weirder albums always get mild appreciation as it seems. Though I do prefer Kicker/Problems, it's a really strong era for them in my opinion, should we get another TGUK album I still have high hopes in that.
They have some new songs recorded per Rob. I think it may be a while until they see the light of day though. They're likely to all take at least a few months off from touring after this run of Four Minute Mile shows.
Decided today to go to the four minute mile show tonight and I’m so glad I did. Most fun music anything I’ve had in a long time. And I’ve been waiting like 18 years to hear newfound mass.
Yoooo I fucking love Lawrence (and The Granada) so much! This makes me even more excited to be moving back next month! How cool!
These were from two years ago this month. Unlisted on their youtube page but I had access to them from their Patreon I'll post more of them that I got. I wish i had saved the podcasts
Realized tonight that Guilt Show is definitely their best album??? No idea if that’s a controversial take but it definitely is and I had completely forgotten.
Yeah I think I agree, I can listen to that album straight through without wanting to skip any songs. I just usually stop at Conversation, its the only one I don't enjoy but luckily its the last song.
