Honestly I didn't expect Elvis to be getting beat this bad. I'll leave this open a little while longer, then post the Quarter Final matches around noon (EST)

Okay everyone, thank you for being patient and sticking it out this far into the Gaslight Anthem bracket challenge! We're now in the QUARTER-FINALS of this competition. We've whittled it down to 14 of Gaslight Anthem's best songs. There were some major upsets and tough matches along the way (RIP '59 Sound), but we're almost at the end.

This round is going to be very straightforward. We're going to do all 7 matches at once. 7 pairs of songs, you vote for your favorites and I'll tally up the votes on Monday when this round closes. Like previous matches, I won't be voting unless there's a tie. The match-ups are...

American Slang VS. Blue Jeans & White T-Shirts

Even Cowgirls Get the Blues VS. Film Noir

Great Expectations VS. Here's Looking At You, Kid

Meet Me By the River's Edge VS. Mae

Old White Lincoln VS. Say I Won't (Recognize)

The Backseat VS. The Diamond Street Church Choir

We're Getting a Divorce, You Keep the Diner VS. The Spirit of Jazz

    GO!

can we split this round up a bit? do the first four today and the next three in another chunk? feels like any sort of discussion is gonna get lost trying to do all seven at once.

Also I have no idea how I'm going to choose between Great Expectations and Here's Looking At You, Kid or Divorce and The Spirit of Jazz

Ah thats a good point, i wish I had thought of that. People have started voting already though. I figured it'd be easy to do it all in 1 fell swoop given how long it's taken us to get to this point haha

woo getting that Blue Jeans vote train rolling.

Holding off on my votes as I try and decide a few of them. But 100% gonna vote for Blue Jeans when I do.

Brian has a lot of really good lyrics. But

Still we sing with our heroes 33 rounds per minute. We're never going home until the sun says we're finished. I'll love you forever if I ever love at all with wild hearts, blue jeans and white t-shirts

    is probably his best

Also, not that i'm keeping score right now but from what I'm seeing so far, Diamond Street is shutting out Backseat which is wild

Okay blue jeans losing to American Slang had me bummed but if backseats loses to DSCC... gonna annoy me even more than 1930 losing to 45

As it should be. American Slang is superior record.
