Usual mix of painkillers and Elsie + ended with “(what’s so funny about) peace, love, and understanding” Only 3 band members with him, one being Ian, the drummer and bassist I didn’t recognize.
Okay, this concludes the 5th phase of Round 2 in The Gaslight Anthem Bracket Challenge. This means that... Old White Lincoln & Say I Won't (Recognize) Will face off in the semi-finals. We're now on the 6th phase of Round 2 match-ups. Since there are 5 songs per phase of match-ups, 2 pairs of songs will face off against each other, and the 5th song will face-off against the winner of the first match. The match-up of the 5th song VS the winner of match 1 will be voted on SEPARATELY. The 5th phase of matches in Round 2 will be: Stay Lucky VS. Stay Vicious Teenage Rebellion VS. The Backseat The Diamond Street Church Choir VS. Winner of Match 1. (This will be voted on separately) GO!!!!
I'm also hoping to get an announcement soon about this new album. From what I know it's completely done and mastered. Can't be too much longer now.
Both he and Frank Turner have both put out statements recently saying they have big annoucements coming soon which is a really beautiful thing. FT is another person who needs a bracket challenge.
Franks big announcement was that he is bringing back his Lost Evening's festival in May of 2018. However, he actually replied to me on twitter about a week ago that the new album is due in spring. He posted that he was playing the last show of the PS4NP cycle, and I asked if that meant he was going to release the new album soon, and he said hes heading home to "finish it up". Get psyched.
Stay Lucky The Backseat Oh man, "Teenage Rebellion" is going to get absolutely annihilated. I'll be surprised if it gets a single vote.
Excellent. Always excited for anything Frank-related, although my love for PS4NP kinda died out quickly. I don't revisit many songs off that album except for the first 4 tracks, "The Opening Act of Spring" being my favorite. The shows during this touring cycle were a blast though.
Agreed. This album really fell short for me, but there are some great songs on it. It's funny how it works that although I would rank this album on the far lower end, it maybe has one or two of his best songs to date. Opening Act & The Next storm are classic FT and Silent Key just blew me away. And there is no denying how much energy he puts into his live shows and how much fun he clearly has doing what he does. One of my favorite people to see live.
