i want to like it because I use larry david gifs literally all the time and i have no idea what context they're even in but theyre always perfect for the sarcastic or snarky reply i need to convey lol
In all seriousness, I think it's somewhat like Seinfeld in the sense that "it's about nothing" and brings up random conversations (Stop and chats, what to do with the hors d'oeuvre sticks when you're done with them) but I think Larry David is more funny than Jerry Seinfeld, and his character reminds me of Michael Scott from the Office a lot where he puts himself in these extremely uncomfortable situations that we the viewer get to reap the benefits of. It's honestly my favorite show of all time, but I could understand if someone didn't like the humor.
i definitely like the humor, i thought the first episode with the pants tent was hilarious bc ive definitely thought about that before. i just think its more daunting that i have like 8 seasons to do and so far the super 90s production is killing me lol
Basically the best show ever. I say commit the time - you will not be disappointed. May take you a few episodes to get into the rhythm of the show, it's semi-improvised and somewhat low production value so could take time to get used to. But it's unreal.
I'll give it another hour to see if someone breaks the tie. In the meantime i'll listen to both songs a couple times over some beers in case I have to break the tie. This is a tough call for me.
Alright, fuck it I'm breaking this tie. Film Noir. Super tough. Listened to the studio versions twice and live versions and overall, I love the lyrics and lead guitar melody more in Film, plus in a live scenario, I'd be more excited for that song. So Film Noir will face Even Cowgirls Get the Blues in the semi-finals.
Okay, this concludes the 2nd phase of Round 2 in The Gaslight Anthem Bracket Challenge. This means that... Even Cowgirls Get the Blues & Film Noir Will face off in the semi-finals. We're now on the 3rd phase of Round 2 match-ups. Since there are 5 songs per phase of match-ups, 2 pairs of songs will face off against each other, and the 5th song will face-off against the winner of the first match. The match-up of the 5th song VS the winner of match 1 will be voted on SEPARATELY. The 3rd phase of matches in Round 2 will be: Great Expectations VS. Handwritten Here Comes My Man VS. Here's Looking At You, Kid. Howl VS. Winner of Match 1. (This will be voted on separately) GO!!!!
It's a bummer because Boxer is amazing. Also, I dunno why people criticize American Slang's production. To my ears it's the perfect blend of clean/crisp and vintage/raw. It's mixed really well too.
Great Expectations Here’s Looking at You, Kid The first one was easy, but saying no to Here Comes My Man hurt. That’s a classic.
